Did you know that one in 20 women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime? That’s according to an analysis by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. In the U.S. and parts of Europe, breast cancer affects even one in 8 women. It’s one of the most common cancers globally and is the No. 1 cancer in women. Luckily, early detection can save lives. This October, as we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we also recognize the transformative role of AI in improving diagnosis. Recent studies show that AI can detect subtle signs of breast cancer that might be missed in routine screenings, especially in aggressive types like interval breast cancers. Deep learning algorithms have reached expert-level performance in identifying metastases in lymph nodes, outperforming traditional histology methods. At Lexmark, now part of Xerox, we have supported breast cancer awareness initiatives for a long time and this year, our offices around the world — from Asia to EMEA to North and South America — dressed in pink and gathered together to learn about prevention and support this important cause and especially our friends who have been affected by breast cancer. We’re hopeful that through innovation, partnerships and technologies like AI, we can contribute to better health outcomes. Let’s raise awareness. Let’s support research. Let’s stand together.🎀🩷
