  • Nothing like a little sunshine, fresh air, and yoga on the courthouse lawn 🌿☀️🧘 Thank you to everyone who came out and joined Human Resources for Yoga on the Lawn today! We loved seeing employees take a moment to recharge, connect, and enjoy a well-deserved midday reset.

  • We had the opportunity to hear from leadership expert ❤️ Julie Schniers ❤️, who delivered a powerful session on intentional connection and its impact on workplace culture. Her message was clear: leadership isn’t defined by a title. It’s built through everyday actions, relationships, and mindset. From fostering stronger teams to creating a culture people actually want to be part of, her presentation challenged leadership across our organization to lead with purpose and influence at every level.

  • This is a powerful example of what ‘second chances’ really look like in action. Huge congratulations to our staff and the youth at the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center! 1,500 hours is an incredible contribution to the South Plains Food Bank! 👏

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible county partner making a real difference for youth and their community. The Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center was recently named the 2026 Mayor’s Hunger Heroes Outstanding Youth Volunteer Group, recognizing the commitment and service of the young people Lubbock County serves. Through their partnership with the South Plains Food Bank, these youth have contributed more than 1,500 volunteer hours, helping fight hunger and support families in their community. Even as they work toward their own growth and future success, these youth have demonstrated the power of service, compassion, and second chances. Their dedication shows how meaningful opportunities and strong mentorship can inspire young people to give back and make a lasting impact—something made possible through the guidance and encouragement provided by the staff at Lubbock County, who create an environment where accountability and growth can thrive. Last month, staff members Vince Guevara, Albert Botello, Kelly Burton, Morgan Permentor, Chris Holloway, and Martin Martinez were honored at the Willows Event Center and accepted the award presented by Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer. During the ceremony, Travis Johnson, Chief Operations Officer for the South Plains Food Bank, shouted out the contributions of youth and staff, saying “This group has partnered with the South Plains Food Bank for many years and we are honored to recognize the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center as this year’s recipient. While the students cannot be with us today, we want to take a moment to celebrate their commitment and the effort they continue to show toward growth and positive change. We also want to recognize the dedicated staff who accompany these students. Their steady guidance, structure, and encouragement create an environment where accountability and growth can happen." At TJJD, we know that positive partnerships like this, in combination with staff support and mentorship, help youth build confidence, responsibility, and a stronger connection to their communities. We are thankful to have partners that know the value in that as well. Congratulations to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center and their dedicated staff on this well-deserved recognition! Your work continues to uplift youth and strengthen the community. 👏 #JuvenileJustice #CommunityPartnership #YouthEmpowerment #Service
