The 6G patent race isn't waiting for 6G to arrive. Sub-terahertz spectrum (100–300 GHz) is where the real early positioning is happening: massive bandwidth, Tbps-class data rates, and sensing capabilities that no previous generation has touched.   But the hardware is genuinely hard. Low output power, high noise figures, beam alignment complexity, and semiconductor constraints at these frequencies are not small engineering problems.    What's interesting from an IP perspective is that standardization and patent filing are running in parallel this time.
