MBI recently joined the inaugural MA Digital Navigator Alliance Conference in Southbridge, where hundreds of digital navigators gathered to discuss how communities across MA can expand digital access & support residents using new technologies. Hosted by Alliance for Digital Equity, the conference featured sessions codesigned by digital navigators working directly with residents to close the digital divide. MBI Director Jody Jones joined Tech Foundry Tech Hub Director William M. & Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa for a plenary panel moderated by United Way of the Franklin & Hampshire Region Digital Navigator Rich Vaden. The discussion focused on the role of digital navigators today & how that work can help ensure broadband infrastructure, digital skills training & emerging tools like AI are accessible to more residents. MBI Broadband & Digital Equity Grants Manager Caitlin Schubert also moderated a breakout session on statewide credentialing for digital navigators, while MA AI Hub Director of AI Innovation Ecosystem Development Gabriela Torres V. represented the MA AI Hub in a session on AI as an assistant. #DigitalAccess #InternetForAll #MAAIHub

Recently, the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) hosted its annual MA Manufacturing Workforce Ecosystem Summit, bringing together nearly 80 workforce & industry leaders from across the Commonwealth for a day of collaboration & strategic planning focused on strengthening the state’s manufacturing workforce. This year’s Summit highlighted progress from working groups dedicated to increasing engagement & enrollment among underrepresented communities, explored key workforce challenges impacting the manufacturing sector & reinforced the critical role collaboration plays in building a stronger, more inclusive talent pipeline. #CAM #MAManufacturing

Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey & CAM announced $1.8M in M2I2 awards to three MA manufacturers, supporting projects expected to create up to 62 jobs across the state. The awardees are: - Feon Energy, based in Woburn, who will use the funding to build a pilot-scale manufacturing line & battery evaluation center to scale advanced electrolyte technology, with research & workforce partnerships. - Highland Park Technologies, based in Somerville, who will use the funding to establish a manufacturing line producing energy-efficient cladding systems, supporting production scale-up, workforce training & industry collaboration. - Terrestrial Bio, based in Woburn, who will use the funding to automate & scale its manufacturing line for microneedle array patches, while advancing workforce training, research & knowledge-sharing across the sector. The 2026 MA Municipal Cybersecurity Summit brought together municipal leaders, employees & cybersecurity practitioners in Worcester to strengthen cyber readiness across MA. Hosted by MassCyberCenter at the DCU Center, this year’s summit focused on “Empowering Cybersecurity Leaders” & the shared role communities play in safeguarding digital public spaces. Across the day, attendees learned about emerging threats targeting municipalities, explored statewide cybersecurity programs & took part in collaborative discussions focused on strengthening local preparedness. CAM recently convened the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative (AMC) at Stonehill College to continue their work on shaping a long-term vision for MA’s manufacturing sector. The meeting brought together leaders from industry, academia & government to discuss development of a strategic five-year roadmap for manufacturing in MA. Additional discussions focused on the 2026 Manufacturing Mash-Up & opportunities for AMC members to support ongoing ecosystem coordination. The agenda also included perspectives from Stonehill College on photonics & optical engineering programs that are helping strengthen the advanced manufacturing workforce pipeline.
