We had an incredible day at the 2026 Central MS Employment Expo at the Mississippi Trade Mart! Thanks to our employers, job seekers, partners, and volunteers, the event was a major success. Here’s what we accomplished together: • 47 employers registered and ready to hire • 375+ job seekers attended • 1,932 booth visits were recorded across employers • 139 on‑site interviews were conducted • 83 job offers were made the same day • 283 projected hires were reported for the coming year Thank you to everyone who helped connect Mississippians with job opportunities. The U.S. Departments of Education and Labor have announced a historic expansion of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Combined State Plans! 🎉 This significant milestone sees 21 states now submitting combined plans, a remarkable increase from just 9 states in 2024. This partnership aims to strengthen the connection between Career and Technical Education (CTE) and the workforce, directly advancing President Trump’s America’s Talent Strategy. As highlighted by Dr. William J. Ashley, Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security: “By integrating Perkins V into Mississippi’s Combined State Plan, we are further unifying career technical education with workforce priorities to expand high-quality pathways in sectors with the greatest employer demand. This plan ensures businesses have the skilled talent needed for economic growth in Mississippi.” 👏 This collaboration reflects a commitment to preparing Americans for successful careers and meeting the needs of employers across the nation.
