Mental health stories are flooding LinkedIn feeds, and when hiring managers scroll, those personal disclosures can introduce measurable bias that tip hiring decisions. Dr. Jenna McChesney, winner of SIOP’s S. Rains Wallace Dissertation Award, demonstrated that candidates who post about mental health struggles are often rated less favorably. Her findings suggest that using LinkedIn to screen job candidates may introduce personal information that becomes difficult to ignore later.
