January is Walk Your Pet Month 🐾 And yes, that means all pets are invited. Daily walks are not just about exercise. They’re about mental stimulation, enrichment, and bonding. While dogs may be the usual walking buddies, plenty of other pets can enjoy safe, supervised outdoor time too. 🐕 Dogs – Sniff breaks, fresh air, and routine walks help reduce boredom and stress. 🐈 Cats – Harness-trained cats can enjoy short strolls or backyard adventures. 🐇 Rabbits – A secure harness and calm environment can turn outside time into enrichment time. 🐢 Tortoises – Slow and steady explorers who benefit from natural sunlight and movement. 🦎 Reptiles – Some species enjoy brief, controlled outdoor time for natural light and enrichment (always species-specific and weather-aware). The key? Safety first. Proper gear, calm environments, and knowing your pet’s comfort level make all the difference. How do you and your pet get your steps in? Bonus points if they don’t bark. 😉

Hi! I’m Cleo, a 5-year-old Golden Retriever (yes, I know, I’m extremely fluffy). Mom says I’m “talkative,” but I prefer the term excellent communicator. I have very important things to report, like meals not being served exactly on time, the need for extra outdoor adventures, when scratches have stopped for no good reason, and why you are currently not paying attention to me. I enjoy naps, but my true passion is bird and squirrel surveillance from the window while Mom works. It’s a serious job. When I want to make Mom laugh, I twist my body into the weirdest shapes possible, usually upside down. Apparently my teeth are “funny,” which I think is rude but acceptable. My official job title is Emotional Support Golden, and I take my work very seriously. If Mom has a long day or needs a break, I’m always ready to help… preferably with cuddles.

When done right, a crate is not a place of confinement. It is a den. Dogs are natural den animals. A well set up crate gives them a quiet, cozy space to relax, decompress, and feel secure. The key is creating an environment that feels calm, comfortable, and predictable. A calming den starts with: • A quiet location away from heavy traffic • The right size, snug but not cramped • Soft bedding and familiar scents • Reduced visual distractions Material matters too.
