Earlier this month, I participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion on North American energy connectivity at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ third annual Texas-Mexico Energy Trade Forum, co-sponsored by the Dallas Fed Global Institute and Southern Methodist University Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center. The scale of cross‑border energy flows between the U.S. and Mexico is significant. Today, roughly 75% of Mexico's natural gas demand is met by U.S. pipeline imports, and 70% of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel consumed in Mexico originates from U.S. facilities. In total, that energy trade represents approximately $60 billion annually, and it relies on American infrastructure and the people who operate it safely and reliably, around the clock. These points paint a clear picture – one that was reiterated throughout the day in Dallas – reliable energy requires stable trade policies, disciplined capital investment and a shared commitment to the infrastructure that connects our two economies. From my seat at ONEOK, I shared a midstream perspective on the role U.S. pipeline networks play in supporting regional energy reliability. Examples include assets like our Roadrunner pipeline that delivers up to 570 million cubic feet per day of natural gas to Mexico’s growing markets via an international border-crossing connection, or the refined products that we help deliver via strategically located shipping corridors. Taken together, the discussion reinforced that cross‑border energy connectivity works best when infrastructure is planned for the long term and operated safely, reliably and sustainably. Thank you to our event hosts and my fellow panelists Alberto De La Pena and Andrew Zoeller for a thoughtful discussion moderated by Garrett Golding. I’m proud to represent ONEOK and my colleagues who keep our critical energy moving every day. #Energy #Infrastructure #Midstream #USMexicoTrade
