Oregon School-Based Health Alliance is proud to endorse the School Access to Naloxone Act, a national bill led by Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley. Just like being CPR trained, school personnel would have the training and education to combat opioid overdoses. In late October, Youth Programs Manager, Patti, and School Health Analyst, Hannah Smith, attended OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's Community Partnership Program Conference in Central Oregon. Presenting the poster topic, "Advancing Cancer Prevention and Nutrition Education Through a School Health Learning Collaborative," the two shared the importance of connecting food access and cancer awareness among youth. Oregon School-Based Health Alliance is thankful to the CPP grant program and its team for uplifting our youth-related cancer prevention projects. Happy 10th anniversary, OHSU Knight Cancer Institute CPP! From HPV peer-to-peer work to school health learning collaboratives, OSBHA has grown, with CPP's support, in our youth health work. Thank you, Community Partnership Program team!

Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon helped unite 225 organizations across the state in just 48 hours to urge the federal government to release November SNAP benefits. You can read the statewide sign-on letter and join other partners in uplifting this on social media using #ProtectSNAP to amplify the call for action. Even with this advocacy underway, Oregon faces an urgent hunger crisis. If federal SNAP funding stalls at the end of this month, approximately 757,000 people across Oregon could lose food assistance overnight. The CEO of Hunger Free America, Joel Berg, has noted that should funding run out at the end of the month, “we will have the greatest hunger catastrophe in America since the Great Depression, and I don’t say that as hyperbole”. As advocates push for systemic change, we can also take care of our neighbors right now: please consider donating to the Oregon Food Bank or your local food pantry to help ensure no Oregonian goes hungry this winter. https://lnkd.in/gKBYR2Hu
