A few years ago, conversations around screen time felt mostly personal. Families were figuring out their own rules. Teachers were managing it classroom by classroom. Most of these decisions stayed local and largely out of public view. That conversation has become much bigger in 2026. New guidance from the Surgeon General’s office reflects how widely screen use is now being discussed across health, education, and childhood development. The question is no longer whether screens are part of everyday life. Schools and families are being asked to think more carefully about how different technologies shape focus, interaction, and the overall environment around learning. There is something funny about watching a crowd realize they can actually clap with both hands again. This article on phone free events in #Chicago captures a feeling that has become more familiar across live entertainment spaces lately. Once the phones are away, people stop checking pockets every few minutes. They stay with the performance a little longer. The audience reacts differently when attention is not constantly splitting in twenty directions. A lot of care goes into creating that kind of atmosphere. From guest entry to the final moments of a show, the experience depends on everyone understanding the space they are stepping into and being willing to stay present in it together. Clapping is going to be so much easier now. @YONDR https://lnkd.in/ghBZDuD2 #Digitalwellbeing #Events #Phonefree #Show

Across cities, a different kind of night out is starting to take shape. More events are asking people to put their phones away. What stands out is how quickly the room settles once that happens. People talk a little longer. They stay in conversations instead of drifting in and out. There is a different kind of energy when everyone is in the same place at the same time. This shift is starting to show up in more spaces. It takes some thought to make it work well. Clear expectations help. So does consistency from start to finish. At YONDR, we have seen this play out across schools, venues, and communities. What stands out is how quickly people adjust, and how that shift carries through the rest of the experience. Give it a little time, and what felt unfamiliar at first begins to settle into something people actually prefer. https://lnkd.in/e32SFZep #AudienceExperience #LiveEvents #HumanConnection #Yondr #Phonefree

Thank you for participating in our poll. Through your responses, a clear pattern is emerging: • Cyber threats are increasing and evolving • There’s a growing need to align with new expectations and standards • Traditional, static instruction isn’t keeping pace • Fragmented approaches put the burden on individual teachers This is why many school districts are now asking for something different: Not more content, but a more continuous, adaptive, and measurable approach to cybersafety, digital wellness, and AI readiness. YONDR can help - stay tuned . . . #CyberSecurity #Education #FutureOfEducation #DigitalCitizenship #AIinEducation #EducationTransformation #K12 #K12Education #SchoolLeadership #Schools #Teaching

It's still demoralizing to teach a classroom of scrolling students. This week, The New York Times published Emily Oster's piece on the latest phone ban research. Worth reading, especially if you teach. https://lnkd.in/ePeCRbY6 Her point: phone bans won't magically fix test scores. That's fair. But here's what matters more: "It's demoralizing to look out at a classroom of kids scrolling on their phones," she writes. And every teacher we've talked to knows exactly what she means. The real win of phone-free spaces isn't always measurable on standardized tests. It's the noise in the cafeteria. The hallway conversations. Students actually looking up. Teachers who can teach instead of managing devices. #Yondr #phonefree #Education #Digitalwellbeing

Last week, Phoebe Bridgers returned with a series of surprise shows, debuting new music in a setting that felt intimate and unforced. YONDR was happy to be part of it. Phones and cameras were placed in Yondr #pouches for the duration of the show, so the focus stayed in the room. At the end of the night, fans lingered, holding onto the experience in their own ways. There is something simple about that moment. Paper in hand, a record of what just happened. Is that too old school, or exactly what live music needs sometimes? We keep thinking about what it means when attention is not split in a space like this, and how different a show feels when it is. Grateful to support artists and teams who are building these kinds of experiences! #Yondr #LiveMusic #AudienceExperience #PhoebeBridgers

A recent piece from Wellesley Middle School talked about their phone-free school day, where phones are out of students’ hands during the school day. Every time we see something like this, it honestly makes us a bit happy in a quiet way. https://lnkd.in/exGTxRCu Not because it is a big headline, but because it feels like small steps are happening in places where attention really matters. #Teachers noticing fewer interruptions. #Students being more present in conversation. Things that are simple, but not small in impact. We hear feedback like this often, from schools, from educators, from parents. And it stays with us, because it reflects why this work exists in the first place. It is less about a policy and more about what people feel in the room when distractions are not constantly pulling everyone away. YONDR is grateful to be part of these conversations and to support schools as they explore what learning can feel like with more presence. #Education #Digitalwellbeing #phonefree

In many school districts, cybersafety isn’t owned by one team. It’s spread across roles, priorities, and responsibilities. #CyberSafety #CyberBullying #DigitalWellness #DigitalLiteracy #FutureOfEducation #StudentEngagement #OnlineSafety #AIinEducation #Education #Schools #SchoolLeadership #K12 #K12Education #StudentSafety #Curriculum
