Last week, Pensacola International Airport was honored to participate in Society of American Military Engineers Industry Day at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Executive Airport Director Matt Coughlin CM, Deputy Airport Director Roy Remington, and Assistant Airport Director for Planning & Engineering Mimi Tsai had the opportunity to share updates on our Terminal Expansion & Modernization Program and highlight the capital investments helping shape the future of air travel in Northwest Florida. We’re grateful to SAME for the invitation and for creating a forum that brings together leaders across aviation, infrastructure, defense, and higher education to exchange ideas and build partnerships. It was especially meaningful to present alongside respected organizations including City of Pensacola Government, NAS Pensacola, Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Hurlburt Field United States Air Force Base, US Army Corps of Engineers, Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners, and University of West Florida. As our region continues to grow, collaboration between military, civic, academic, and industry partners remains essential to building strong communities and resilient infrastructure. We appreciate the opportunity to represent Pensacola International Airport and share the exciting work ahead.

Momentum is building for SEC-AAAE 2027. A few weeks ago at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Executive Airport Director Matt Coughlin CM had the privilege of officially inviting airport leaders from across the Southeast to join us next year on Pensacola Beach for SEC-AAAE 2027. And now the real work begins. Behind the scenes, our team is deep in planning mode to create a conference experience that feels distinctly Pensacola: ➡️ Dynamic keynote sessions and industry conversations. ➡️ Meaningful networking opportunities for airport executives and aviation partners. ➡️ Young professionals programming, scholarship fundraising, and memorable after-hours experiences. ➡️ Exclusive experiences that highlight the heritage and innovation of our region. ➡️ An event experience unlike any other: dinner under the US Navy Blue Angels in collaboration with the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation at the National Naval Aviation Museum here in Pensacola, FL. We don’t just want to host a conference. We want to showcase why Northwest Florida is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing aviation markets in the country. Huge thanks to everyone already helping bring this vision to life (Visit Pensacola, Inc., PENSACOLA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Innisfree Hotels, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, National Naval Aviation Museum, EXP, Stratus®, and so many more. We can’t wait to welcome the industry we love so much to our beautiful Gulf Coast. SEC-AAAE 2027: Where America Began. Where Aviation Leads.

While in Washington, D.C. meeting with our legislative partners, Executive Airport Director Matt Coughlin CM had the unexpected opportunity to meet the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson—a moment that allowed us to put Pensacola International Airport firmly on the national radar. It was a meaningful opportunity to attest to City of Pensacola Government’s remarkable growth and the vision we have for the future of PNS as we continue to invest in infrastructure that supports our region for decades to come. We’re also grateful to Speaker Johnson’s team for an unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience at the United States Capitol, including a tour of the Rotunda and the Capital Crypt; an experience that made the visit all the more special. As a token of appreciation, Matt presented Speaker Johnson with his personal challenge coin; a small gesture to commemorate a truly impactful introduction.

Pensacola International Airport's Executive Airport Director, Matt Coughlin CM, recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to continue advancing key conversations around the future of PNS. While there, Matt had the opportunity to meet with Representative Jimmy Patronis to share updates on our Terminal Expansion & Modernization Program and discuss our long-term vision for PNS. We’re grateful for his continued support and partnership as we work to meet the growing needs of our region. The trip also included productive meetings with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Planning Director, as well as members of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Aviation. These conversations were instrumental in reinforcing our priorities around infrastructure, safety, and strategic growth—and we’re encouraged by the strong alignment and momentum coming out of them. As PNS continues to grow, these partnerships at the federal level are critical to ensuring we’re building not just for today, but for the decades ahead.

We were honored to have Executive Airport Director Matt Coughlin CM in Washington, D.C. today to meet with Senator Ashley Moody and her Senior Policy Advisor Bea Valenti to discuss the future of Pensacola International Airport. During the visit, Matt shared updates on our Terminal Expansion & Modernization Program—an investment designed to support continued growth, enhance the passenger experience, and position PNS to serve our region for decades to come. We’re especially grateful to Senator Moody for her continued support at the federal level, including providing a letter of support for our U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD grant application. This funding would enable a critical planning study focused on improving safety and reducing congestion through curb front expansion and a reconfiguration of the airport entrance road—enhancements that will directly benefit our passengers and the broader traveling public. We appreciate the opportunity to connect in person and are thankful for partners who are helping us move these important projects forward.

From vision to vertical. This aerial view of Project Titan Hangar 3 shows just how far this development has come—and where we’re headed next. As part of a $200M+ investment in Pensacola’s aviation future, this facility will expand our Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities and position the City of Pensacola Government as a national leader in aviation maintenance, create high-quality jobs, and continue building a strong pipeline between education, industry, and opportunity. Grateful for the partnerships making this possible—and excited for what’s ahead. More capacity. More jobs. More momentum. ST Engineering Roy Anderson Corp AtkinsRéalis

There’s something special about being in a room full of people who care deeply about the future of aviation. Our team had the opportunity to attend the 2026 SEC-AAAE Conference in Savannah, GA, surrounded by industry leaders, innovators, and partners who are all working toward the same goal: moving our airports—and our communities—forward. We left inspired, energized, and incredibly excited for what’s ahead. A sincere thank you to Team Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (Lee Ann Norris, C.M., Robert Shaul, Timothy Roberts, A.A.E., Lenard Robinson, A.A.E., Jen Brotka) and SEC-AAAE Executive Director, Bob Brammer, for hosting such a thoughtful, seamless, and memorable conference. You’ve set the bar high. Now, we’re honored to carry the torch. Pensacola International Airport is proud to host the 2027 SEC-AAAE Conference, and we can’t wait to welcome this incredible community to the Gulf Coast. We’re grateful for their time, engagement, and commitment to understanding the needs of our community and the future of air service in Pensacola. We’ve officially reached 60% design completion for our new TSA checkpoint at Pensacola International Airport. For a project of this scale, this is a significant milestone. At this stage, the layout is largely defined, key systems are coordinated, and the vision is moving from concept to reality. It marks a critical transition from planning into execution. While there’s still work ahead, this milestone represents meaningful progress toward delivering a faster, more efficient passenger experience at PNS. Excited for what’s ahead. Thank you, EXP, for leading the charge in our Terminal Expansion & Modernization Program!
