The ribbon has been cut, and it's official. The Acrisure Amphitheater is open! Years of design, architecting, and engineering. Thousands of decisions being made all with one goal in sight: build a skyline-defining landmark rooted in its surroundings. We can't wait to see the city fill it up. This project is designed and built for Grand Rapids! Lionel Richie said it best: "I look forward to telling my artist friends there is a destination you have to come to—Grand Rapids." #AcrisureAmphitheater #ProgressiveCompanies #GrandRapidsMI

The design of the Acrisure Amphitheater started with a line 🖊️ Progressive Companies recently sat down with MLive to share a behind-the-scenes look at the design process behind the Acrisure Amphitheater. Inspired by the flow of the Grand River, our team envisioned a venue that felt connected to the surrounding landscape. The earliest sketch captured the simple form of a leaf floating along the water. What began as a deceptively simple concept has grown into a monumental venue designed to bring people together. We’re proud to have played a role in shaping a space that will leave a lasting impact on the future of our city. Want to learn more about the design process? West Michigan just leveled up! The Meijer Sports Complex expansion is officially complete. Progressive Companies served as architect and engineer of record, and seeing this project come to life is a tremendous moment for our team and the West Michigan community. The expanded complex features the new Alro Steel Championship Softball Field, 20 pickleball courts, two flexible-use diamond fields, 300 additional parking spaces, and upgraded amenities throughout. Our Culture and Civic Practice Leader, Jim Horman, put it best: "The return on annual spending through sports tourism is around $90 million a year — a huge return for the community, not to mention the community gets to use this facility the whole year as well.“ Congratulations to the West Michigan Sports Commission and every partner who helped bring this vision to life. This is what it looks like when great design meets community impact. Our team in Charlotte took part in the Innovation Barn's annual Second Chance Giveaway ♻️ Members of the local community picked up donated architectural design samples for reuse. Everything from tiles and fabric to carpet and glass was diverted from landfills! Check out the whiteboard to see how much was diverted. As Architects, this one hits close to home. These are the same sample books and material swatches that cycle through our own studios (we donate too!) It's a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the waste generated in our industry. To see the projects from people who attended, check out #discarddelights. If you are in the design community and have samples you would like to donate - save them for next year’s event! Reach out to Envision Charlotte's Innovation Barn for more info!
