Rankin County School District will resume a normal schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. All schools and offices will be open, and classes, transportation, and extracurricular activities will operate as scheduled. For secondary students, tomorrow will be an A Day. #ReachingSuccessTogether

Due to potentially dangerous road conditions, low temperatures, infrastructure concerns, and the potential for power outages, and after consultation with the Rankin Emergency Management Center, the National Weather Service, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rankin County Road Department, Rankin County School District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26. All extracurricular activities are also canceled. This decision was made to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. We sincerely thank the Rankin Emergency Management Center, the National Weather Service, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rankin County Road Department for their guidance and continued partnership as we prioritize safety. Rankin County School District is closely monitoring forecasts that indicate the potential for wintry weather and is in ongoing communication with the Rankin County Emergency Management officials, the National Weather Service, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rankin County Road Department. At this time, no decisions have been made regarding school operations for Monday, January 26th, as conditions may change. Due to the forecasted extreme weather, all extracurricular activities and all out-of-state travel have been canceled for Saturday and Sunday out of an abundance of caution. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Families will be notified through ParentSquare, district social media, and local media as updates become available.
