  • Industrial services, healthcare, AI infrastructure, defense, and fast-casual dining – the sectors driving PE activity in 2026 – have two things in common: recurring revenue and limited macro exposure. Meanwhile, SaaS businesses vulnerable to AI disruption are seeing significant valuation declines. Learn where the smart capital is flowing in our Q&A with Chris Sheaffer, global vice chair of Reed Smith's Private Equity Group - https://lnkd.in/gqMeeHaJ

  • This week, Learning & Development were delighted to welcome 26 first-year associates from Hong Kong, London, and Paris to our London office for the Associate Advantage EMEA Foundation In-Person Learning Event. Highlights included practical hands-on sessions focusing on AI tools, negotiation, and insights into client service from firm alumni. Thanks to our partner and senior staff faculty, and to the London office for hosting us at One Blossom Yard!

Reed Smith just launched Private Equity Behind the Scenes, a global article series in which our lawyers examine the forces, challenges, and opportunities shaping today’s private equity market. The series covers the issues that matter most to sponsors, investors, and portfolio companies. As private equity funds adapt to a market that demands heightened scrutiny and longer horizons, dealmakers are creating value through operational discipline, sector selectivity, and increasingly sophisticated deal structures. Our Chris Sheaffer, David Hayes, Panos Katsambas, and Tom Whelan share perspectives in this video introduction. • Reed Smith 2026 Partner Retreat – “Level Up” We recently hosted our annual partner retreat in San Diego. Wonderful to bring over 600 partners together in California, which is home to five Reed Smith offices, to collaborate and hear firsthand about the impactful work being done for our clients around the world. Following a record 2025 for revenue and profitability, our conference theme, “Level Up,” reinforced our focus on delivering the highest level of service, deepening relationships across practices and regions, and bringing the full strength of technology and AI to best serve our clients. We were honored to welcome former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as our keynote speaker for a dynamic Q&A with partners and client guests. An energizing retreat, all focused on ensuring we continue to meet and exceed our clients’ evolving needs. Reed Smith is firing on all cylinders.

Reed Smith partners Ben Fliegel and Michael Salimbene, Pharm.D. have been published in Risk Management Magazine, exploring the insurance coverage implications arising from recent social media addiction rulings. As courts continue to grapple with claims linking social media platforms to youth mental health harms, the insurance landscape is shifting in meaningful ways. In this article, our team examines the coverage fallout from these landmark decisions, including how insurers and policyholders should be thinking about risk allocation, policy interpretation, and the evolving duty to defend. This is a rapidly developing area at the intersection of technology, public health, and insurance law, and we are proud to be leading the dialogue on these critical issues.
