Several factors contributed to the current outbreak of Ebola in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, including local funeral practices, flawed diagnostic tests that were calibrated for the wrong strain, and samples sent to Kinshasa that were not stored or shipped properly.   Twenty-six more suspected Ebola deaths were recorded in 24 hours, authorities said on May 19. The new deaths bring the fatalities associated with the outbreak in eastern DRC to 131.
