County of Riverside reposted this
It's 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ 🎊 Happy New Year from the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) 🎉 Thank you for following us on LinkedIn. Because social media is such a critical communications tool for our profession—and because government communicators value good data—we want to reflect on what content our audience finds most valuable. Since 2024, CAPIO’s LinkedIn community has nearly doubled, reflecting a deliberate shift toward more member-focused content. Our engagement data confirms what resonates most: celebrating the work, leadership, and achievements of CAPIO members. Our most-engaged content highlighted winners from our 2025 EPIC Awards, which honor excellence in California government communications, including 2025 Communicator of the Year Melody Hendrickson, 2025 Rising Star Jayli Barkley, and Best Small Shop winners Sarah Krieg and Shannon Dunkle from the Town of Apple Valley, California. The County of Riverside also earned strong engagement for their impressive showing—taking home more EPIC Awards than any other agency in the state. You also recognized California communicators named among the nation’s Top Influencers in Local Government by ELGL: Engaging Local Government Leaders, including Eric Palmer (ReGen Monterey + CAPIO's Social Media Chair), Kevin Lee (City of Long Beach), and Stephen Hale (City of Perris). Our top-performing post of the year featured Placer County’s Social Media Impromptu Award–winning video, capturing a dramatic Public Works boulder blast—an example of the high-quality visual storytelling happening across our profession. Conference content also resonated strongly, from highlights of our record-breaking 2025 Annual Conference in Napa to early excitement for San Diego in 2026. Shoutout to Vice President, Conference, Sylvia Ornelas and Vice President, Awards, Steven Baird for delivering exceptional programs and experiences for our members. The metrics show a supportive professional community that values learning from peers and drawing inspiration from real-world projects. CAPIO conferences and programs continue to be must-attend opportunities for education, networking, and energizing shared experiences. We’ll continue using this platform to celebrate our members, share professional development opportunities, and elevate best practices across the profession—and we encourage feedback from social media experts like you on how to make CAPIO’s social media even more valuable. Here’s to continued growth and collaboration in 2026.
