Pleased to share my new publication in the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering: “Statistical Examination of the Shear Strength of Frozen and Unfrozen Fine-Grained Soils” This study applies a design of experiments (DoE) approach to evaluate the effects of temperature, soil type, and normal stress on shear strength in frozen soils. We’re looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in energy, industrial, or transportation projects to join our team in Round Rock, TX. In this role, you’ll support utility-scale wind and solar developments through site investigations, foundation analysis, and geotechnical reporting. You'll also help lead field programs and mentor junior staff while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. We’re looking for a Civil Project Engineer to join our team in Round Rock, TX. In this role, you’ll lead and deliver full-scope civil designs for wind, solar, and general civil infrastructure from site planning and drainage to roadway layout and grading, while coordinating across disciplines and ensuring QA/QC throughout. Ideal candidates have 4–8 years of experience, a PE license in Texas (or ability to obtain), and a strong background in civil site design. Congratulations to Jake Alexander, Field Exploration and Testing Lead, on receiving this year’s Presidential Award. Jake has been a steady force for the geotechnical team—leading with accountability, hard work, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. One of his biggest contributions this year was the development of the PLT team. He took on the challenge with initiative, mastered the process, and built a group that could operate confidently and cross-functionally in a short amount of time—all while guiding them through demanding field work with calm, practical leadership. Jake’s impact reaches far beyond his role. He’s helped strengthen the geotechnical group, supported RRC’s growth in renewables, and continues to serve his community through the Haskell Fire Department and the city council. He sets a standard of leadership that truly lasts.
