Preparing healthy and delicious meals for students is our passion; ensuring those meals are safe is our responsibility. Temperature checks are a critical step in safe school foodservice operations. Using food thermometers, our teams check items like beef burger patties to ensure they reach and maintain proper internal temperatures during cooking and holding. It’s one of the many intentional steps our teams take every day to ensure meals are safe, consistent, and ready to be enjoyed.

School Lunch Hero Day was everything we could have imagined and more. 💙 Between the superhero costumes and the outpouring of appreciation from students and faculty, this day continues to be the highlight of our year. We are incredibly grateful to our partner districts for creating a culture of appreciation and for recognizing the hard work that goes into serving fresh, from-scratch meals every day. FLAVOR FEST 2026 was a hit in Grand Prairie ISD! We had over 10 vendors show up in force for over 2,000 students!! Flavorfest is a unique opportunity for students to lead the charge on upcoming K-12 foods from National Vendors—tasting products, voting for their favorites, and using their voices to help shape next year’s school menus. We even saw the amazing Stephen Ritz who excited and engaged with students about this amazing event!! SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence continues to be the best K-12 food provider on the market, passionate about student voice and student choice!!

Taste testing is in high gear across Virginia. 🍎 Take a look at how we’ve been exploring new menus lately: With the expert support of Chef Nicholas Kroll, we hosted a "Taste Trailblazers" event designed to get students excited about bold, fresh ingredients. The star of the show was our crispy chicken tacos topped with a refreshing cilantro-ranch coleslaw. 🌮 In Roanoke City Public Schools, high school students took over a “Flavor Fest” featuring a lineup of student-approved picks. The menu included an array of items, such as hot honey cornbread poppers, seasonal produce from Roanoke Produce, and a spicy orange chicken lo mein that students simply could not resist! With each tasting event, we continue to bring more variety and valuable student input to our menus.
