The Warner Bros. Second Century Studio Campus in Burbank, CA, combines creative architecture and landscape design across an 11-acre site. The project features two office towers, expansive terraces, and an outdoor area—over an underground parking structure—infused throughout the site. SGH provided fire and life safety consulting for the project, supporting the team as they navigated a complex, multi-building campus. A 250-year-old landmark is getting the care it needs to last another 250. Preservation Maryland and the Maryland Park Service are undertaking a project to assess and repair the historic rubble stone walls at Fort Frederick State Park, one of the most intact 18th-century fortifications in the U.S. SGH is supporting detailed condition assessments and helping develop repair strategies to address hidden deterioration and water damage, prioritizing long-term preservation over short-term fixes. SGH’s Cheryl Saldanha, P.E. recently attended the 28th International Passive House Conference 2026 in Essen, Germany. Cheryl presented “Restoring the past, protecting the future” with Steven Winter Associates’ Dylan Martello. Everyone gathered for a photo after the closing plenary session. SGH’s Melissa Roth, P.E., PMP, and Kate MacDougall, PE, recently attended the Women Who Build Summit in Amherst, MA, hosted by the Construction Institute. The two-day event brought together women and men in the AEC industry to connect, share, and champion the next generation of AEC leaders. They shared stories and innovations that continue to push the industry forward. #womenwhobuild

SGH team members, past and present, gathered at the Structural Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Structures Congress 2026 a few weeks ago in Boston. We’re glad this group could reconnect and participate through presentations, panels, and committee meetings throughout the event. Pictured (L-R): Donald O. SGH team members grabbed their canoes, threw on their life vests, and took to the water for the annual Run of the Charles. The 14.1-mile boat race supports the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) in its work to protect, restore, and enhance the Charles River and its watershed. SGH teams were spread across three boats, all finishing in the top ten. The crew finished the race by joining the Finish Live RiverFest. We’re excited to share that SGH’s Christine Roy will be speaking at TEDxDoverSherbornHighSchool Youth 2026 on May 24 at Lindquist Commons in Dover, MA. The event is open to the public. As part of this year’s theme, “The Architecture of Technology,” Christine’s talk, “A Home for Nuclear Energy: From Risk to Possibility,” will explore her personal journey from skeptic to advocate, and how she ultimately found meaning and purpose in an unexpected career path within the nuclear industry. TEDxDover Sherborn High School Youth 2026 brings together voices from a wide range of disciplines to challenge perspectives and inspire thoughtful conversations about the future of technology and society. SGH’s Alexander Stephani, PE will present “Retrofitting for Flood Resilience: The Brandywine Museum of Art” as part of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Metropolitan Section’s Spring Seminar Series. He will present a case study of the Brandywine River Museum and discuss how structural engineers applied flood hazard data, historical flood records, and performance-based evaluation methods to quantify risk and inform retrofit strategies for an existing building system.

In this video, SGH's John Karras, P.E., discusses the critical role roofing and waterproofing play in protecting buildings and the people who rely on them. These building enclosure systems contribute to occupant comfort, durability, and day-to-day reliability. And for mission-critical facilities such as health care buildings, laboratories, government spaces, and data centers, it is even more important to have effective roofing and waterproofing that support resilience, reduce the risk of disruptions, and protect long-term building performance.
