Did you know SoCalGas was responsible for one of the most memorable opening ceremony highlights in Olympic history? At the 1984 Summer Games, the torch bearer ascended the Coliseum’s historic peristyle and ignited a central gas jet, which sequentially lit the two outer sets of rings before sparking the main Olympic cauldron. SoCalGas fueled that moment.     The countdown to LA28 is on, and Sempra is proud to once again bring our operational excellence to reliably power Olympic and Paralympic facilities. As my SoCalGas colleague Rodger Schwecke said: “Our responsibility is to ensure our system remains safe, resilient and ready to support millions of people during a truly global moment.”     I can’t wait to cheer for #TeamUSA and Team SoCalGas.

In honor of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Heritage Month, we hosted an event featuring guest speaker Scott Akasaki, Sr. Director of Team Travel for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who has been with the team for 26 seasons and has been a strong advocate in the API community. We came together to honor our late colleague Gayle Montgomery and her legacy of service. In her hometown of Monrovia, we hosted a food pantry volunteer event at Foothill Unity Center Inc, sorting and packing food to help ensure hundreds of families receive nutritious meals.
