Last month, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management hosted an electronic waste recycling event next to the Statehouse and recycled an incredible 12,540 pounds of e-waste. This represents the largest total weight of e-waste collected at a one-day government center collection event! If not disposed of properly, electronics contain heavy metals that can be harmful to the environment. Thank you to IDEM for keeping these items out of the regular landfill!

Governor Mike Braun has expanded the New Parent Leave policy for State of Indiana employees. While the policy already provides paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child, the update now extends this support to foster care placements as well. This change recognizes that foster parents need dedicated time to help children adjust, attend necessary appointments, and create stability during an important transition. This update is part of Governor Braun’s Family First Workplace initiative, which is focused on making Indiana a more supportive workplace for parents and families.
