On Thursday, September 11, Superior Essex and Essex Solutions employees joined more than 1,500 volunteers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA to honor the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Together, the group helped pack an extraordinary 500,000 meals for local food banks, helping provide support to families across metro Atlanta.
Superior Essex and Essex Solutions, proud sponsors of the event, brought a team of 32 employees who worked side by side at three tables on the stadium floor. Outfitted in company-branded shirts, the volunteers measured, packed, and sealed meals during a fast-paced two-hour shift that blended energy, teamwork, and purpose.
The stadium pulsed with activity as a DJ kept spirits high, while games and interactive challenges created a lively and fun environment. For Essex Solutions employees, the afternoon was more than a volunteer shift—it was a chance to strengthen connections with colleagues, build camaraderie, and demonstrate the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
Coordinating the involvement was LaShanda Pitts, Corporate HR Executive Assistant, who praised both her colleagues and the broader Atlanta community for coming together.
“When our team shows up, we show up with heart,” Pitts said. “This event reminded us that service is more than just giving time—it’s about standing together to create hope. Every meal we packed represents the chance for a child to go to bed nourished, a family to gather around a table, and a community to grow stronger.”
The day’s effort also reflected the company’s Core Values in action. Employees “Acted With Integrity” by honoring the day of remembrance with careful attention to quality and safety at every station. They “Won Together” as three tables moved in sync—measuring, sealing, and boxing to surpass internal goals within the two-hour window. By contributing to 500,000 meals, they “Made a Difference” that will be felt across Atlanta’s food banks and pantries. And by rotating roles, troubleshooting on the fly, and embracing the scale of the challenge, they “Imagined the Possibility” of what a coordinated workforce can accomplish far beyond the stadium walls.
Local news outlets documented the effort, noting both the scale of the event and its impact on regional food security. The half-million meals prepared at the stadium will be distributed through food banks and pantries, reaching thousands of households in need.
By the time bus carried employees back to the office, there was a shared sense of pride and accomplishment. The company’s participation not only reinforced its culture of service but also highlighted the impact that collective action can make in addressing urgent needs. Ultimately, the day was not just about the meals packed but about the perspective gained. Standing shoulder to shoulder with thousands of strangers in a stadium built for champions, employees saw firsthand how small efforts can add up to something monumental.
