Just got back from my first Tableau Conference, where I had the chance to represent SVA Consulting. And wow... the #DataFam energy is hard to match! The biggest shift I kept seeing across the keynotes and breakout sessions: BI is moving from a place you go to ask a question, to something that comes to you with a clear answer. Plain-English questions, AI-written summaries that fit on a phone screen, real conversational analytics built into the products people are already using. Instead of needing to dig through dashboards or rely on additional analysis to understand what’s happening, users can spot something that feels off, ask a follow-up question, and get an immediate answer grounded in governed, trusted company metrics. I was especially glad to see more of Tableau Pulse, one of my favorite features. The moment that stuck with me most was a customer demo where a leadership team is using Pulse to run their executive reviews. Notifications hit their phones every Monday with a summary of what changed and why. The slide that hit hardest said it best: shorten the path from "what happened?" to "what should we do next?" The other thing I really valued was hearing from so many different companies and how different teams across the org are actually applying these tools. From sales to support to operations and finance, each function had its own angle on how they're using conversational analytics and AI-powered briefings. Tableau Conference ’26 was an absolute blast. As a first-timer, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, but walking into a convention center full of people solving the same problems, building the same charts, and getting excited about the same nerdy data stuff made it feel like I’d been part of the community for years. The #DataFam energy is very real, and it made the whole event feel equal parts conference, reunion, and analytics summer camp. I put together a short write up of a few of my favorite sessions, keynote moments, and thoughts on where Tableau, and conversational analytics more broadly, might be headed. tl;dr: it feels like a very exciting time to be supporting clients in their analytics journey, and Tableau Conference ’26 made me even more optimistic about what’s next. Also a huge shout-out to Caterina Mora for helping me represent SVA Consulting at the event!
