At Temple Health and Temple University, researchers are working to shape the future of ALS care through emerging “digital twin” technology. This early-stage work aims to create computer models that predict the progression of ALS, helping physicians and patients better understand how the disease may unfold and how care might be planned more precisely. With the goal of transforming care planning and advancing new treatments, this research unites expertise in neuroscience, data science, and compassionate clinical care. While the models remain in early development, the collaboration underscores Temple’s commitment to discovery that makes a difference. Led by Dr. Terry Heiman-Patterson and Dr. Huanmei Wu, PhD, FAMIA, this project represents a powerful intersection of research innovation and patient-centered values.
