  • How can communities ensure resilient water supplies in the face of critical challenges like sea level rise and aquifer depletion? Virginia’s Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) offers an innovative solution.   HRSD is recharging the Potomac Aquifer with SWIFT Water TM, treated to meet drinking water quality standards. A key part of the SWIFT Program is the Nansemond Treatment Plant Advanced Nutrient Reduction Improvements project, led by Garney Construction (contractor) and Tetra Tech (lead engineering designer). Tetra Tech’s innovative engineering design solutions meet current project requirements and anticipate future regulatory requirements.   By integrating the Partial Denitrification-Anammox (PdNA) process, an advanced nitrogen removal technique developed by HRSD research, the project achieves: • Substantial capital and operational cost savings   • Enhanced energy efficiency • Increased plant capacity Want to learn more? • Meet the GlobetrOTters! Inspired by a real otter who visited one of our Florida offices, we’re sending a team of otters to Tetra Tech offices around the world.   Why an otter? The adorable otter that visited our Florida office is a reminder that otters and other species, including humans, are deeply impacted by the quality of our water, air, and land, as well as by the interaction between human infrastructure and the environment. These are all areas where Tetra Tech makes a positive difference in our communities.   Our GlobetrOTters—a team of plush otters affectionally referred to as OTto—are on a journey around the world to highlight our work in water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure and the brilliant, dedicated people who deliver our innovative solutions every day.   Follow along at #TtGlobetrotters and on our live otter tracker: https://hubs.la/Q04B1B1w0.   #Tt60 #LeadingWithScience #LifeAtTetraTech

  • Jason Hellendrung, FASLA, PLA, Vice President, Planning and Design at Tetra Tech, has been named to the American Society of Landscape Architects’ 2026 Council of Fellows in the Leadership/Management category, Jason has spent nearly two decades advancing the role of landscape architecture in urban resilience and climate adaptation across New England and beyond. An active member of the BSLA/Boston Society of Landscape Architects and the region’s broader design community, he brings landscape architecture, planning, and engineering together to address complex resilience challenges. Throughout his career, Jason has helped rethink how public spaces can support communities as both civic places and critical infrastructure. His work has demonstrated how thoughtful design can make communities more resilient and more livable—from flood recovery in Cedar Rapids to Rebuild by Design, Climate Ready Boston, and Sea Change: Boston, Please join us in congratulating Jason and celebrating his impact on the profession, alongside the entire 2026 class of Fellows.   #ASLAFellows #LandscapeArchitecture #UrbanPlanning #ClimateResilience #ResilientDesign #TetraTech #LeadingWithScience

One fault. Three zones. Three different strengths. Tetra Tech’s Evgeny Kostyukov, M.Eng., P.Eng., Senior Geotechnical Engineer, will be presenting at Slope Stability 2026, taking place October 26–29 in Lima, Peru. Evgeny will present “Shear Strength Decay in Fault Zones and Design Implications,” co-authored with Cameron Clayton of Tetra Tech and Robyn Barnett and Andrew Bidwell of Elk Valley Resources. Fault zones have architecture—and their strength should too. The paper explores shear strength decay within fault zones and the implications for slope stability design, highlighting how variability in measured strength can reflect fault architecture rather than simply data scatter. If you’re looking for Tetra Tech’s Robert Baron, you might need to don a wetsuit to find him. As a project manager and senior marine scientist in our coastal infrastructure and resiliency practice, Rob is part of an interdisciplinary team that creates industry-leading design solutions for some of the most complex issues facing coastal communities and ecosystems. Whether diving in winter or conducting seagrass surveys during the warmer months, you’ll find Rob and his colleagues in the salty waters of the Caribbean and southeastern United States, assessing the impact of critical infrastructure projects on vital marine habitats. Rob snapped these photos during pre-dredging submerged aquatic vegetation surveys for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Florida. He shared: "Most recently, we have been hard at work in Clearwater Pass and along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Manatee County documenting submerged aquatic vegetation ahead of planned dredging activities. These surveys provide important information for environmental planning, regulatory review, and the protection of marine habitat. It has been an extremely productive stretch of fieldwork, and it has been rewarding to help lead a team that can get the job done safely and efficiently." Rob provides glimpses into an underwater world that most of us rarely visit—but one that’s vital to the thriving of coastal communities, the environment, and the economy. As part of Tetra Tech’s 60th anniversary, our employees are sharing how they're building the Tetra Tech legacy for the next 60 years.  Follow #IAmTetraTech, #NouseSommesTetraTech, and #EuSouTetraTech to see where our projects take us next!
