January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month — and a powerful reminder that prevention saves lives. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, thanks to HPV vaccination and routine screening. At Kaiser Permanente Northern California, we’re proud to lead the way with innovative, patient-centered approaches that protect long-term health. Here’s how we’re putting prevention into action: 🛡️ Our HPV vaccination rate for children ages 9–12 is 71% — more than double the national average reported by the NCQA 🩺 84% of our eligible members are up to date with cervical cancer screening 📊 Our cervical cancer rates are lower than the national average 📉 We’ve reduced cervical precancer by 90% among young adults in Kaiser Permanente Northern California since 2014 🧪We’re piloting at-home self-collection options to make screening even more convenient In #TPMG, we know that prevention and early detection work best when care is accessible, proactive, and personalized. Thank you to our dedicated physicians and care teams for making this possible! 🙏🩵 Kari Carlson, Donna Hong, Tracy Seo, Betty Suh-Burgmann #OBGYN Links in comments ⬇️

It was inspiring to witness an outstanding turnout at the 2025 Kaiser Permanente Division of Research / TPMG Cancer Research Symposium — a day that brought together more than 100 researchers and clinicians. The depth and breadth of the work presented — from survivorship and lifestyle research to advances in screening, surveillance, and cancer treatment — reflects the strength of our integrated model and the power of collaboration across disciplines and institutions. Thank you to our TPMG and DOR leaders, including Douglas Corley, Theodore Levin, Raymond Liu, Rachel Badovinac Ramoni, Smita Rouillard MD AGAF, and Tatjana Kolevska, for championing research that directly improves care for our patients. And gratitude to all the researchers whose work is shaping the future of cancer care. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gNqwv-9h

Cooking Up Better Health in the New Year 🍎🍳 As we approach 2026, many are looking to build sustainable, healthier habits. One powerful tool is culinary medicine — an evidence-based approach that offers practical, personalized guidance on improving diet to support better health outcomes. We’re thrilled to see Linda Shiue, MD, Chef, DipABLM, TPMG’s Director of Lifestyle Medicine and Culinary Medicine, and a professionally trained chef and cookbook author, featured by the American Medical Association for her leadership in this growing field. 🔗 Read the full AMA story: https://bit.ly/4phnteX Thank you, Dr. Shiue for sharing how approachable, personalized conversations about food and nutrition can strengthen the patient-physician relationship, support chronic disease management, and improve overall health.

In #TPMG, we believe patients benefit most when clinical care and research advance together. That’s why we created the Physician Researcher Program (PRP), which gives a select group of practicing physicians dedicated time to conduct research in partnership with Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) investigators. Last month, at the first-ever PRP Symposium, we celebrated the impact of our inaugural cohort. Since 2017, these researchers have: 📚 Produced 270+ publications 💰 Secured over $11M in research funding 🗣️ Influenced national conversations 💙 Changed the way we deliver care Thank you to Douglas Corley, Smita Rouillard MD AGAF, and Jacek Skarbinksi, MD, for your leadership; to our research colleagues at the DOR for their partnership; and to our incredible physician-researchers. You are shaping the future of evidence-based medicine at Kaiser Permanente — and beyond. Learn more here! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gR_GzRsp
How might patients benefit if The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. created an opportunity for a select group of physicians to divide their time between clinical practice and conducting research in partnership with investigators at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research? The answer was on display at the first Physician Researcher Program (PRP) symposium, which highlighted the research achievements of the first cohort of TPMG clinician researchers accepted, in 2017, into the PRP. As Douglas Corley, Smita Rouillard MD AGAF, and Jacek Skarbinksi, noted the initial cohort of 6 physician researchers improved care for KPNC members and elevated Kaiser Permanente's research profile by authoring more that 270 publications and bringing in more than $11 million in additional research funding. Kudos to the graduating cohort: Robert Chang, MD, Dan Li, MD, Joe Presti, MD, Matthew Solomon, MD, PhD, FACC, Betty Suh-Burgmann, MD, and David Vinson, MD! Thank you for all you contributed to DOR, TPMG, and all the members of KPNC! News story: https://lnkd.in/gR_GzRsp
