Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Beneath the Pines Fundraiser last night at the Pine Hollow Arboretum. We were excited to welcome everyone into our Founder’s Historic Mid-Century home for an evening of conversation, music, libations and even a trail walk or two 🌲 We are so excited for what lies ahead for Pine Hollow, and sincerely thank you all for your commitment to the arboretum. Funds raised from this event support the Pine Hollow Arboretum, which allows us to remain a free arboretum open to the public 365 days a year and host educational programming all year long! We are thrilled to share that the State Review Board approved our nomination for the Pine Hollow Historic District, and we are now designated as a State Historic District. Next step, the National Register (we'll know in 45-60 days if we are designated on the National Level). We look forward to sharing more, but are thrilled that the architecture and accomplishments of Henry Blatner are being recognized. The Pine Hollow Historic District includes the 3 homes on the Pine Hollow Rd. one that is currently used as our Visitor Center and offices. This designation is incredibly impactful to our organization as we are now open to more grant opportunities. We look forward to exploring programs that blend the history of trees, architecture, history and culture! Thank you The Davey Tree Expert Company for all the support you’ve shown the Pine Hollow Arboretum. Davey Tree is the real deal. Their thoughtful care for the trees and the land, coupled with their realistic goals makes them our go-to tree work company. Yesterday, a crew showed up to get into the notoriously wet Magnolia Field to remove a dead ash and pine tree. Normally Pine Hollow likes to keep dead trees so they can be used by wildlife and for soil health, but these two trees were looming over some of our most unique specimens. They had to go. We are so thankful for Davey Tree and all they do to help us maintain the arboretum and horticultural collection. They have helped us save countless trees over the years and use thoughtful care when it comes to considering removal.

This event will sell out! Enjoy the arboretum in early Spring as we posthumously recognize our founder, Dr. John W. Abbuhl. Walk the grounds, peruse the auction items, and listen to music beneath the pines. 🎶 Funds raised from this event support our horticultural collection which includes the labeling of trees, proper pruning, tree work, and new plantings of trees.
