Stria Sport didn't set out to make a pickleball shoe. Pickleball found Stria Sport, and the company built its entry around the specific gap real customers described. Its founder Eric Porter called a customer who ordered 8 pairs of basketball shoes in bulk, only to learn their primary sport was pickleball. This wasn’t a one-off. Players across the country wanted both ankle support and a locked-in feel. There wasn’t a pickleball-specific shoe that gave them either. A stack of similar conversations ultimately led to Gabe Tardio’s signature Stria Sport G1 Pro, the company’s first dedicated pickleball model. It stands as one of the few true signature shoes in our sport. Big business news for professional pickleball. Apollo Sports Capital led a $225 million structured investment into Pickleball Inc., officially establishing it as the parent company of the Carvana PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. USA Pickleball is facing yet another challenge to its longstanding reign as the official governing body of pickleball. The United Pickleball Association has published its first full rulebook, which will be immediately adopted as the standard across Major League Pickleball and the PPA Tour For now, it only applies to the pros.
