  • Not every day at a software development company is about writing code. Sometimes, it's about capturing the people behind it. 📸 Between meetings, coding, brainstorming, and everyday challenges, we don't always find the time for moments like these. So we got the Thorgate team in front of the camera and captured some great moments, plenty of smiles, and a few good laughs along the way! 😄 Behind every digital product we build and every new idea we bring to life, there are real people with different personalities, skills, and perspectives. Here are the people who make Thorgate what it is! 💛 #TeamCulture

  • Last week we had one of our favourite Thorgate Group traditions: Grill & Chill. It is our chance to bring people from across the group companies together, celebrate the wins big and small, share important announcements, grill the CEO with a mix of hard and easy questions, and then simply enjoy the evening together. This time, we took over Hiiu Pubi, and there was plenty to celebrate. One of the biggest announcements was that Tõnn Luts is stepping into the role of Chief Business Development Officer at Waybiller. Waybiller has built a strong position in Estonia, with more than 200 companies using the platform. The next phase is about turning that experience into a more systematic and repeatable commercial engine that can grow MRR both at home and in new markets. In his new role, Tõnn Luts will take wider ownership of Waybiller’s commercial execution across sales and business development, marketing, partnerships, expansion and upsell. A major focus will be making growth more predictable, strengthening the customer journey from sales to delivery, and building what works into a scalable commercial model. We also had another important leadership announcement: Amna Ahsan is officially taking on the role of COO of Thorgate Group. Amna first joined Thorgate in 2019, and over the years her role has evolved across different functions and increasingly into helping build and run the group as a whole. Over the last couple of years, she has been working closely with the leaders of our different companies, supporting operational execution, connecting different parts of the group and helping turn direction into action. Going forward, Amna’s focus will be on the Group as a whole: helping the leaders of our businesses succeed, strengthening how we operate together, and connecting the pieces across Waybiller, Thorgate Digital, our Thorgate Ventures and the wider group. Two important milestones, a lot to celebrate, and plenty more still ahead. Thanks to everyone who joined us for another great Grill & Chill. 🥂

  • Thorgate’s Monthly Gurus of July & August ✨ A little appreciation for two people who have really stepped up. 🏆 Congratulations to Andrei Stepin, our Monthly Guru of July! Since stepping into the CEO role, Andrei has brought new momentum to sales, strengthened collaboration between Thorgate Digital and Waybiller, and taken ownership where it mattered most. What we especially appreciate is his ability to listen, turn feedback into action, and bring out the best in the people around him. Sometimes, he simply makes things happen when others think they can’t. 🏆 Congratulations to Anette Martin, our Monthly Guru of August! Anette has been proactive, dependable, and always ready to step up. From supporting recruitment to keeping the office running smoothly, she takes real ownership of her work. Her attention to detail and ability to spot things before anyone even needs to ask make a real difference every day. Well deserved, Andrei and Anette! 👏 Thank you for everything you bring to Thorgate and Waybiller.

Yesterday, as part of Thorgate’s Mental Health Month, we spent some time thinking about a topic that is becoming more relevant for all of us: How is AI changing the way our brain works? Neuroscientist Jaan Aru joined us to share his perspective on how AI affects the way we think, learn, and focus, and how we can use it without losing the habit of thinking for ourselves. 🧠 A few key takeaways from the seminar: • Use your brain first, then AI. • Attention is essential for learning. • Thinking is something our brain needs to practise. • The bigger and more complex the problem, the more important it is to think it through ourselves. • AI should support our thinking, not replace it. • AI often tries to please us, rather than always giving us the most accurate or critical answer. • Overreliance on AI can also create a kind of imposter syndrome. If you present work that AI has largely created for you, especially work you could not produce to the same level yourself, it may feel less like your own achievement and bring less satisfaction. AI can help us work faster and make many tasks easier, but it is just as important to keep training our own ability to focus, think, and solve problems. #AI #MentalHealth #Neuroscience #CompanyCulture #Thorgate #Waybiller

  • A great second half of the week at Cambridge Tech Week, filled with valuable conversations around health tech, digital health and what it really takes to turn innovation into real-world adoption. A few highlights from the conference: 💡 Dr Michael Watts, Co-Founder & CEO of Blüm Health, shared valuable perspectives on building and scaling digital health solutions in complex healthcare environments. Thank you, Michael, for the insightful panel and the conversations afterwards. 💡 Liz Ashall-Payne, Co-Founder & CEO of ORCHA brought an important perspective on digital health adoption and what needs to happen for promising technologies to become solutions that healthcare systems can actually use at scale. 💡 It was also interesting to hear more about Huma’s approach to building an operating system for AI in regulated industries, bringing together data, governance, interoperability and regulatory requirements. Beyond the sessions, some of the most valuable moments came from the conversations in between. We had great discussions with Jaana Tuomi from Enter Espoo, Benjamin Hartley from Cambridge Enterprise, Zhi-Tian Chen from TusPark UK, and many others across the health tech ecosystem. It was also great to share the Cambridge Tech Week experience with Merili Auser and Karl Õkva from Thorgate, Kerli Luks from Muun Health, Evelyn Aaviksoo and Ain Aaviksoo from Heba, Tarmo Pruuli from Tikstek, Sakari Lätti from Aurlide ltd., Paulus Carpelan from Adamant Health, Loora Salurand, Mariann Uudmäe and Anu Puusaag from Tehnopol, Heidi Saaristo from Business Turku, and Sander Õun from Startup Estonia. One takeaway stood out: building great technology is only part of the challenge in health tech. Adoption, regulation, evidence, integrations and scalability matter just as much. A big thank you to Tehnopol and Business Turku for bringing the mission together and creating so many valuable connections. 🇬🇧 #CambridgeTechWeek #HealthTech #DigitalHealth #MedTech #HealthcareInnovation #Thorgate

This week, Thorgate is taking part in the Health 3-2-1 business mission in London and Cambridge, represented by our Senior Partner and Board Member Karl Õkva and Group Head of Marketing Merili Auser.🇬🇧 We started at the Embassy of Estonia in London, where Liam Cahill, Shamik J Parekh and Isaac Ezro-Lack shared practical insights into the NHS, regulation, procurement, reimbursement and adoption. A special thank you to Ambassador H.E. Mr. Sven Sakkov for welcoming us to the Embassy and helping kick off the visit. A few key takeaways: ▪️ A clinically strong product is only the entry ticket. ▪️ You need to understand the actual buyer, budget, and procurement route. ▪️ Regulation and approval do not automatically mean adoption. ▪️ The strongest companies think about scalability and multiple markets from day one. The next day, visits to UCL Partners and University College London Hospitals gave us a closer look at how innovation moves from validation to adoption and scale across the NHS. Great to share the mission with Kerli Luks from Muun Health, Maksim Zukov, Erkki Leego and Natalia Balkunova from Kodality, Evelyn Aaviksoo and Ain Aaviksoo from Heba, Tarmo Pruuli from Tikstek, Sakari Lätti from Aurlide ltd., and Paulus Carpelan from Adamant Health. And a big thank you to Loora Salurand and Mariann Uudmäe from Tehnopol and Heidi Saaristo from Business Turku for organising the mission. #HealthTech #DigitalHealth #NHS #HealthcareInnovation #Thorgate #Health321

  • ✨ Thorgate’s Monthly Gurus of May and June ✨ 🏆 May’s Monthly Guru was Jürno Ader! Jürno’s can-do attitude, technical expertise, and willingness to step beyond his immediate responsibilities have made a real impact. He took ownership of the Standard Books integration, contributed to Waybiller and DevOps topics, and consistently shared his knowledge with others. The numbers speak for themselves too: Jürno achieved the highest billable utilisation across the entire Thorgate Group in May. Thank you, Jürno, for stepping up, getting things done, and helping the people around you grow. 🏆 June’s Monthly Guru was Regina Tirman! Regina stands out for her trustworthiness, attention to detail, and commitment to quality. When she takes responsibility for something, the team knows it will be handled thoughtfully and thoroughly. Although Regina may seem quiet, she has been observing, learning, and quickly developing a strong understanding of our work, people, and wider context. Her curiosity, openness, and willingness to grow reflect Thorgate’s values beautifully, and we are excited to see her impact continue to expand. Congratulations, Jürno and Regina! Thank you for everything you bring to Thorgate and Waybiller. 💙 #Thorgate #Waybiller #MonthlyGuru #TeamRecognition #CompanyCulture
