Today, physicians don’t have to choose between practicing medicine and contributing to research. Renowned liver disease specialist Dr. Robert Gish has built a career proving clinical care and research can thrive side by side. He’s part of a new era of research that brings trials to where patients already are. Read about his journey and how modern infrastructure and tools like Topography are helping physicians lead impactful trials, expand access to care, and shape the future of medicine all from within their own communities. https://lnkd.in/ezFKpjE5

IT Services and IT Consulting
Reinventing clinical research for the good of medicine.
About us
Topography’s mission is to empower and enable physicians. We are on the front lines building tools and services that enable physicians to overcome the existing barriers to entry in research. In gathering evidence in this new way, we aim to increase by 10x the number of physician-investigators, and expand patient access by the same factor. We believe every physician can contribute to research on some scale.

Our recent survey showed limited AI adoption among practices and systems across size and geography. While AI can provide powerful solutions in trials, success comes down to how it’s deployed. While AI tools can meaningfully automate time-consuming processes such as patient recruitment, data analysis, and trial monitoring, it’s hard for many to know where to start. We believe that AI needs to be considered within the broader stack of technology and operations that go into running trials at scale. Our Senior Director of Life Sciences Partnerships, Cristy Patterson, recently attended #SCOPESummit in Orlando. At Topography Health we’re focused on providing sites and sponsors with everything they need to run trials efficiently — whether that’s full-stack research infrastructure or a specific set of solutions that can plug into existing processes and teams. Here are a few of Cristy’s key takeaways from this year’s conference: 🏗️ Patient Identification+ There are more patient identification solutions than ever before. Identification is a real challenge, but broader trials infrastructure also matters. You need an integrated network to achieve long-term success. 📊 Site metrics matter Visibility into site-level activity is critical. Many sponsors and CROs only see what happens once a patient is enrolled, but the real work — pre-screening, chart reviews, and early-stage patient engagement — often goes unseen. Tracking and optimizing pre-enrollment efforts means collecting and keeping a close eye on the data. 🤝 Each site has different needs — meet them where they are Not all research sites operate the same way, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. Sites need support that fits into their existing workflows or desired goals, not another tool that adds complexity or isn’t custom tailored. The best solutions empower sites without creating extra burden. 💡 AI is a mixed bag in trials AI solutions are everywhere, but the biggest opportunities for AI are beyond just finding patients. Barriers to patient identification aren’t about lack of data, they’re about lack of time. Sites need AI that unlocks more time and bandwidth to focus on things like patient engagement and compliance, and the last mile services that investigators need to actually produce evidence. In our recent survey of practice and system CFOs, COOs and administrators, physician engagement rose to the top as one of the most important aspects of building a successful research program. Ultimately, it’s essential to engage physicians in research as both a professional learning opportunity and a path to better patient outcomes. Institutions that prioritize the physician experience from the outset are far more likely to have a meaningful impact in their communities. Clinical research is often seen as a cost center rather than a revenue driver. While profitability is possible, driving consistent revenue over time remains a steep challenge for practices and systems, even for those who have built an otherwise successful research program. In our recent survey, CFOs, COOs and other administrators shared how the right resources and guidance can help them build research programs that provide reliable revenue streams. We spoke to CFOs, COOs, and administrators from practices and systems across the country. They shared the challenges and opportunities they’ve found with research, illustrating the state of research. Here’s some of what we heard. 🤝 Nearly 60% of non-academic practice and system administrators in the survey would consider bringing on a service partner to build their program. 🥼 Engaging physicians is critical to success. ⛔ AI adoption in research remains limited. 💲 Research can be profitable, with many practices and systems reporting some financial success, though not consistently.
