Over the past few months, we’ve been working on our Transparency Center, a space where we provide a clear, detailed view of how Uptodown operates. Now we are officially launching it, along with key insights into our processes, metrics, and policies 🛡️ This report has a clear goal: 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐦𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬. Using concrete data and an expanded explanation of our control systems, we show how we handle security, quality, and governance—from analyzing millions of files each month to validating developers and moderating our community. Here are a few numbers from the last 30 days: ◾ We requested 2.2M VirusTotal security reports to verify file reliability before publication. 5.48% showed at least one positive detection among over 75 antivirus engines. ◾ Developers registered in our Developers Console submitted 3,581 apps (new releases and updates). Of these, 1,496 were rejected for not meeting our publication criteria. ◾ 1.5 million new users registered on Uptodown, and nearly 20,000 ratings and reviews were submitted. Around 22% of them were not published due to our editorial policies and anti-spam filters. What’s the best added value you can bring to a well-established project like ours? The answer has always been right in front of us. Uptodown’s community is massive, with over 200K new user sign-ups and thousands of reviews and comments every week. It became clear that we needed to give our visitors more ways to take part in this shared experience. That’s why we’re introducing new social features on Uptodown. The brand-new social feed lets users follow others and explore a timeline filled with community interactions. In addition to posting reviews, you can now create and share app lists from your favorite picks. Every user also gets their own profile page, showcasing all their shared content and accessible just by clicking their username. We believe this is the right step forward in a digital landscape where trust and transparency are more essential than ever. Over the past few weeks, we’ve rolled out the first beta of our official client for Windows 11. For years, we’ve specialized in distributing Android apps, but desktop software has always been part of what we do. With this release, we wanted to take things further and offer a practical, feature-packed tool to help you browse, download, and keep your desktop apps up to date, all in one place, backed by our huge software catalog. And like always, our principles remain unchanged: free downloads, no registration required, and security and transparency first. We’ll be sharing more details about what the client can do very soon. AI integration is reshaping the web, and like we’ve done with every tech wave before, we’re adapting fast, tweaking our model to meet the market’s ever-changing needs. It’s been over 20 years since Luis Hernández Garrido and pepe dominguez fernandez founded Uptodown, and our mission remains the same: to keep democratizing software distribution in a way that benefits users, developers, and advertisers alike.
