Thank you so much to Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville for the $5,000 investment in the Tech Connect for Success program! This program will increase access to technology for youth and adults living in the Butler Terrace and Johnson Towers public housing communities. These desktop computers are installed in a shared community space to support youth with homework, research, and test preparation, while also assisting adults with job searches, online applications, and resume development. By expanding access to technology, this program promotes academic achievement, workforce readiness, and economic opportunity. This project/program was funded (or funded in part) by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville's GFiber Digital Inclusion Fund 2026.

"Housing instability may not be as visible as homelessness, but it is present in every neighborhood, in every council district across this city. We are asking you to meet that challenge with innovation and data-driven solutions. Because housing stability is not just a service, it is the foundation on which everything else in a person's life is built." Our Senior Director of Operations in Louisville, TaLonda Holland was featured on WDRB News recently, advocating for more funding for housing stability in Louisville City's budget. Urban Strategies, Inc reposted this
Unity Place at Kindred officially opened today, marking another milestone in the transformation of the St. Paul's area! Councilmen John "JP" Paige and Carlos Clanton were joined by officials from Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Brinshore Development, LLC, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Banc of America, BBRM Norfolk Partners, Virginia Housing, U.S. Bank and Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development to mark this occasion. Residents were on hand to share the excitement in returning to Kindred and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support in People First Empowered by Urban Strategies, Inc. Unity Place at Kindred offers 140 mixed income, multi-family apartments, with 49 designated as replacement dwellings for returning Tidewater Gardens residents. Apartment home sizes vary between one-, two- and three-bedrooms, and the community offers amenities such as a workout area, community and gaming rooms, an outdoor space with playground and grilling features and a parking garage. Also incorporated into Unity Place is a communal plaza that features more than 26,000 square feet of commercial retail space on the ground floors of the two buildings – with McDonald's’s serving as the anchor tenant in the building that fronts St. Paul’s Boulevard. McDonald's graciously provided lunch to our children's choir from Ready Academy following their performance at today's event!
