Yesterday, we finally had the chance to tour Vistra Corp.’s Perry Nuclear Power Plant with our Clean Energy Working Group, and it was well worth the wait! What was supposed to happen in February (before the deep freeze had other plans!) turned into a beautiful, sunny day on Lake Erie. It was so meaningful to bring together such an engaged group of corporate sustainability leaders and give them a firsthand look at one of the most powerful clean energy assets we have in our region. Seeing it up close really puts things into perspective. A few takeaways that stood out to me: - Nuclear energy is 100% carbon-free and delivers around-the-clock, reliable power - The amount of spent fuel produced is incredibly small relative to the energy generated, especially when compared to other energy sources - The safety protocols, monitoring, and engineering behind the plant are extraordinary (and yes, I can confirm I am not glowing green 😊) I know nuclear can spark a lot of debate, but experiences like this reinforce just how important it is to have a balanced, pragmatic view of our energy future. If we are serious about decarbonization, reliability has to be part of the conversation. And here’s the part that feels especially exciting for our region… This facility, right here in Greater Cleveland, is not only continuing to operate, but is being expanded through a new long-term agreement with Meta. When complete, Perry is expected to become the largest single-reactor nuclear plant in the United States. How lucky are we to have a resource like this in our backyard? Huge thank you to Mandy Nagle, Alexandra Z., Faye Kinner and the whole Vistra team for the incredible tour and for helping our group better understand the role nuclear can play in a clean, resilient energy system. And grateful, as always, for the thoughtful leaders in our Clean Energy Working Group who continue to lean in and ask the right questions. Onwards and upwards! #AllIn #GreaterCLE #Nuclear #CleanEnergy

We recently had the opportunity to bring customers together at our latest energy summit to discuss the rapidly evolving energy landscape. The conversation focused on a few key themes shaping today’s market—continued load growth, shifting policy and regulatory dynamics, and changing market conditions. These forces are not only redefining how the grid operates, but also how businesses think about energy strategy, risk, and long-term planning. A highlight of the event was recognizing customers who are truly leading the way—whether through energy management, innovation, or their commitment to their communities and engagement efforts. Appreciate the thoughtful dialogue and partnership. Looking forward to continuing to navigate what’s ahead—together.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating four incredible organizations that are leading the way in energy management, innovation, engagement, and community impact. Their work shows what’s possible when smart energy strategies, strong partnerships, and a commitment to people come together. 🏆Leadership in Energy Management: National Oilwell Varco (NOV), recognized for its strategic approach to managing electricity across its Texas operation and disciplined energy procurement. By centralizing energy oversight and consolidating over 150 meters under a single location, NOV improved visibility, coordination, and control across its energy portfolio. 🏆Leadership in Engagement: Houston City College, recognized for its collaborative energy management efforts that helped reduce energy consumption, achieve more than $560,000 in savings through optimized building schedules, and secure more than $100,000 in credits and incentives. HCC also increased its TXU Greenback® Rebate value to $15,000 annually, totaling $75,000. 🏆Leadership in Innovation: Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, recognized for redeeming more than $804,000 in TXU Greenback® rebates, generating approximately 13.2 million annual kilowatt-hours in energy savings, and avoiding approximately $4.4 million in energy costs compared with 2022. 🏆Leadership in Community: The Salvation Army of Greater Houston, recognized for its partnership with TXU Energy to help vulnerable Texans maintain access to electricity during times of financial hardship. Through its 2025 utility assistance partnership, The Salvation Army helps connect TXU Energy customers in the Houston community with bill payment assistance during challenges such as job loss, medical crises, and extreme weather. Thank you for helping create a brighter, more efficient, and more resilient energy future!

  • This week, we celebrated with Meta – recognizing what strong partnerships can make possible for American innovation and security, the future of energy, and the communities we serve. We were joined by employees, labor partners, community organizations, elected officials, and our friends in the business community. Together, Vistra and Meta are advancing a 20-year agreement tied to more than 2,600 MW of existing nuclear energy within PJM from our Davis-Besse, Perry, and Beaver Valley nuclear plants.  Importantly, this partnership also includes new nuclear capacity via continued investment in our nuclear fleet with planned uprates – a 15% increase in capacity across three plants – that will add new power to the grid while helping ensure the long-term future of these facilities. In fact, this partnership is now enabling us to extend nuclear operations at these plants into the 2050s and 2060s, creating 3,000 project-related jobs and opening opportunities for the next generation of nuclear workers.  Notably, our nuclear plants will continue providing electricity to the PJM grid exactly as they do today, helping ensure reliability for millions of homes and businesses while meeting growing demand. And the impact goes well beyond megawatts. Initiatives like this help position Ohio and Pennsylvania as leaders in innovation, next-generation technologies, and long-term economic growth – while supporting jobs, local investment, and stronger communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, including Pat Tiberi and the Ohio Business Roundtable, and Nat Sahlstrom and the team at Meta, who helped make this next chapter possible.

Great to see our two OBRT members, Meta and Vistra Corp., coming together in Lake County. Today at Vistra’s Perry power plant, our President & CEO, Pat Tiberi, spoke about what this partnership means not just for Ohio’s economy, but for the country as a whole. Investments like these strengthen our communities, support innovation, and reinforce the critical role Ohio plays in our nation’s future. Special thanks to Jim Burke for his leadership, and to the legislators and local leaders who continue working to move projects like this forward in Ohio.

The competitive power sector can meet this critical moment of serving growing power demand while keeping the grid reliable and affordable for all. Nuclear power is an important part of that solution and Vistra leads the way.

    Chief Global Affairs Officer, Meta

Great conversation with the Nuclear Energy Institute President & CEO Maria Korsnick and Vistra Corp. CEO Jim Burke at the NEI’s annual conference in DC. I had the chance to talk about Meta’s AI vision & our AI glasses (which I was able to show off during the event), as well as our data center strategy & why we’re backing nuclear as a means to strengthen the grid & help meet America’s energy demands for decades to come. We talked a bunch about affordability, including our commitment to investing in the grid & the importance of hyperscalers paying our own way and not passing on the costs when it comes to powering our data centers. Of course, it's a nuclear energy conference - and Jim is a friend I've known and admired for years - so there wasn't a lot of disagreement!  But I really enjoyed getting under the hood of this important topic with two leaders with such deep expertise and commitment.

  • America’s growing energy demand is reinforcing the importance of reliable, always-on power. That was a key focus at Vistra’s Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant, where U.S. Senator Dave McCormick visited last week as part of his tour of critical energy sites across Western Pennsylvania. For decades, Beaver Valley has provided zero-carbon, 24/7 electricity that communities and businesses depend on every day – and as demand continues to grow, discussions focused on the importance of protecting existing nuclear generation while creating opportunities for future investment and development. The visit also included conversations about recently introduced permitting reform legislation to streamline nuclear industry processes and support investment in energy infrastructure. While the path forward continues to evolve, one thing is clear: maintaining America’s energy leadership will require strong partnerships between industry and policymakers to ensure reliable, secure, affordable electricity for generations to come.

  • We’re excited to see TXU Energy’s work with Ford Motor Company featured in Ford’s From the Road series. It’s a great recognition of what strong partnerships can do for customers. With the TXU Energy Free EV Miles program, Ford EV and plug-in hybrid drivers in Texas can charge at home during off-peak hours, typically overnight, at no cost. In other words, they can save money while charging when demand on the grid is lower. And it’s working. In the program’s first full year, 94% of participants’ home charging shifted to off-peak hours, helping reduce strain during peak times and making EV ownership more affordable. A powerful example of what’s possible when community, employers and nonprofits align around opportunity.   This story from The Dallas Morning News highlights how innovative workforce efforts in South Dallas are opening doors for individuals with criminal records, connecting them to meaningful employment and a second chance at stability.   We’re especially proud to see the South Dallas Employment Project (SDEP) recognized. As a Pathways to Work partner—United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ initiative focused on expanding access to quality jobs and career pathways—SDEP provides employment services alongside critical wraparound support, helping individuals successfully transition from re-entry to long-term employment.   👏 Thank you to Vistra Corp. and leaders like Jim Burke (our 2026 Annual Campaign Chair), Annette Underwood and Lauren Driscoll for championing this work and expanding access to opportunity. Jim’s focus on Pathways to Work as his campaign platform reflects the importance of efforts like these across our community.   And congratulations to Van Parker, named Social Innovator of the Year at The Pitch in 2025—well deserved recognition for advancing solutions that change lives.   This is what it looks like when we invest in people, remove barriers, and build stronger communities—together.   🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ghnVxYZ7

At Vistra, we believe stronger communities are built when more people have the opportunity to participate and succeed. We were proud to support the North Texas Disability Chamber's Inclusion Summit as the Accessibility Sponsor, bringing together important conversations on accessibility and opportunity. We also appreciated the chance to stay part of that conversation through the Chamber’s Catalyst Leadership Series, where Scott Hudson, Vistra’s president of retail, shared perspectives on leadership and building pathways for long-term growth. Grateful to the NTXDC and everyone helping move this work forward.
