This is what community care looks like💙 At the YMCA of Greater San Francisco, we know that well-being takes many forms. Sometimes, it’s the warmth of a familiar face, a moment of conversation, or the reassurance that you’re not alone. Sometimes, it looks like access to nutritious food. Each week, our food pantries support more than 6,900 people across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties. Since 2020, over 10,000 households have turned to the Y not just for groceries, but for care, connection, and a sense of belonging. As food insecurity continues to rise, this work matters more than ever. Together, we’re creating spaces where people can access what they need to feel supported, nourished, and seen. #Community #Belonging #FoodAssistance #YMCA #YGSF

When we share stories, we make impact visible. Last week, our board leadership gathered at the Presidio to reflect on how we tell the story of our work in a way that truly reflects its impact. Facilitated by Zoe Galvez, the retreat centered storytelling as a tool for connection. We were invited to find our own voices and bring forward the lived experiences and perspectives that shape how we understand and share the YMCA’s work. A central theme emerged: wellbeing is multidimensional—physical, mental, social, financial, and spiritual—and the Y plays a vital role in connecting these pathways for the communities we serve. This gathering reinforced that storytelling is not separate from our mission. It is how we deepen understanding, build alignment, and expand community wellbeing. #CommunityWellbeing #Storytelling #BoardRetreat #StrongerTogether

Future leaders start here 🌄 At YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, campers do more than make campfire memories — they explore the outdoors, try new challenges, and develop leadership skills that last a lifetime. From guiding peers on nature hikes to taking initiative in team challenges, campers learn responsibility, collaboration, and confidence while having fun in the fresh air. Through our Annual Community Campaign, we’re making these opportunities accessible to more youth across the Bay Area, giving every child the chance to explore, play, and grow as a leader. With $2.2 million in youth financial assistance, your generosity ensures that the Y’s programs continue to inspire, challenge, and empower families across the region. Support the next generation of leaders — donate to our Community Campaign today. When leaders step into community spaces, they see what’s possible. During his recent visit to the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, Mayor Daniel Lurie experienced the impact of a Family Resource Center in action. Guided by Anastasia Gordon, Senior Executive Director of the Bayview YMCA, he saw firsthand how families are supported every day through care that is responsive, personal, and rooted in community. The Family Resource Center at Bayview is one of 26 sites across San Francisco, apart of San Francisco Department of Early Childhood's Family Resource Center Initiative. Each site is tailored to meet the unique needs of the community it serves. At Bayview, that support includes: ☑️ Affordable, accessible childcare ☑️ Perinatal health support for expecting mothers and families ☑️ Essential supplies like diapers and breastfeeding resources. ✨Bayview is the second largest diaper bank in San Francisco! ☑️ Food assistance ☑️ Support groups for fathers, grandparents, and caregivers This work is more than a moment. It’s the model that strengthens families, builds stability, and creates lasting impact across generations. At the YMCA of Greater San Francisco, we believe community wellbeing is lifelong — built through connection at every age and every stage. Across seven branches, our Active Older Adult programs create spaces where seniors can stay active, build friendships, and experience a true sense of belonging. From wellness classes and lifelong learning to social gatherings and excursions, these programs are designed to support not just physical health, but emotional and social wellbeing too. This Women’s History Month, we were proud to recognize women from our Mission, Richmond, and Bayview Hunters Point YMCAs as our #YCONS — Y icons who bring our mission to life. They shared their wisdom on aging with grace, the ways they stay active, and what community at the Y means to them. Whether it was a lively Best Baked Goods Bakeoff, a neighborhood walk, or a joyful Sit and Dance class, one thing was clear — care and connection are at the heart of it all. Many of these programs are free and open to seniors, ensuring more people can access the relationships and resources that support healthy aging. From local outings to shared daily moments, every interaction is an opportunity to reduce isolation, strengthen wellbeing, and create community. Because when we invest in connection at every stage of life, we build stronger, more vibrant communities for all. https://lnkd.in/gyKp_GMq
