Your public profile refers to the sections of your profile that are eligible for display to people who are not signed in to LinkedIn, or can be viewed on search tools such as Google or Bing. Even when your profile’s public visibility is on, LinkedIn may not display all profile fields, as an added layer of data protection. This setting gives you additional control over that protection.
Toggling the public visibility limits setting to On means that LinkedIn may not display all eligible public profile fields. In this case, people who are not signed in to LinkedIn, or viewing your profile through search tools, may not be able to see some of your public profile.
Toggling the public visibility limits setting to Off means that LinkedIn will display all eligible public profile fields. Note that this may also make it easier for unauthorized third parties and search tools to collect your public profile data.
Regardless of whether the public visibility limits setting is toggled to On or Off, you will still be able to exercise granular control of which profile fields are eligible for display to people who are not signed in to LinkedIn, through the public profile settings.
