Campaign Manager is LinkedIn’s self-service advertising platform. It allows you to create, manage, and measure ad campaigns that reach professionals across LinkedIn’s network. To launch ads, you’ll work within a structured hierarchy made up of four key entities:
- Ad account
- Campaign
- Ad set
- Ad
Understanding how these entities relate to each other is essential for building effective campaigns and managing your advertising strategy.

Boost your LinkedIn Page posts to extend their reach through an advertising campaign. You'll select an objective for boosting your post, define the audience (who will see your post), and set a budget and schedule to limit how long the post is boosted.
Boosting a post from your LinkedIn Page provides a lighter campaign and ad set creation experience, but also limits the options available for objectives, audience criteria, and bid and budget. For full options, create campaigns and ad sets in Campaign Manager.

When you create a Sponsored Content ad set in Campaign Manager, you can select ads from your existing content including: member posts approved for thought leader ads, your LinkedIn Page posts, and ads previously created in Campaign Manager. The posts or ads available as you browse your existing content depend on the objective and ad format you selected for your campaign and ad set.

When you create an ad set, you’ll choose from settings to determine who your ad is displayed to, where your ad is displayed, how much your ad set spends, and when your ad set runs. Optionally, you can also add tracking such as conversion tracking or URL tracking parameters.
The first step when you select your ad set settings is to choose a marketing objective. An objective is the goal you’d like to achieve with your ad set. Ad sets are optimized for delivery to people most likely to take the action you want based on the objective you select. Each objective offers ad formats and bidding strategies that align with the goals of that objective.
