Accounting Manager (Hybrid)

A privately held, mid‑market organization is seeking a hands‑on Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations and manage the monthly close in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment. This role blends technical accounting execution with people leadership and process development and is well‑suited for a manager who enjoys being deeply involved in the work while building structure and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities across multiple entities, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Own and drive the monthly and annual close process, including reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
  • Review financial results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies
  • Manage revenue recognition, accruals, and expense allocations in a high‑volume operating environment
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals while remaining hands‑on in execution
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to resolve accounting issues and improve data quality and reporting
  • Act as a primary contact for external audits, including preparation and response to audit requests
  • Support ERP and SaaS systems, including reporting enhancements and future system initiatives
  • Identify manual processes and lead efforts to automate, streamline, and scale accounting workflows
  • Design, document, and implement accounting processes and procedures
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with internal requirements



Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a people‑management role
  • Proven experience operating in a multi‑entity accounting environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial close processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams while remaining hands‑on (player‑coach)
  • Experience building processes, procedures, and controls in evolving environments
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume setting



Preferred Background

  • CPA or CPA‑eligible
  • Experience in operationally intensive or transactional environments
  • Prior exposure to ERP systems and system implementations
