Establishing relationships for the #1 firearms auction house in the world, Acquisitions Associate is responsible for differentiating to potential clients why Rock Island Auction Company (RIAC) is the best place to consign firearms.
The Acquisitions Associate is responsible for the initiation of the consignment process with our consignors and potential consignors. Acquisitions Associates spend much of their day on the phone, building relationships with clients while explaining the benefits of consigning their items with RIAC.
This non-exempt, full-time position is 100% on-site. RIAC standard hours of operations are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST with overtime and weekend hours, as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Initiate the consignment process with our sellers
Develop relationships with our current and potential consignors
Make regular phone calls on a daily basis
Properly and accurately log notes
Involved in sales based negotiations
Accurately completes forms and documentation of the product as well as any customer instructions
Handles inventory/collectables in a safe and respectful manner
Completes all logs and documentation timely as required by RIAC and all State and Federal agencies
Complies with all government and company regulations at all times
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Strong attention to detail
Positive attitude, well organized, and highly motivated
Must be empathetic towards consignors
High level of comfort on the phone and proficiency with a multi-line phone system
Should be able to display excitement over the phone
Must be professional and dependable
Excellent communication skills, closing skills, and customer focus
Type 50 wpm
Possibility of travel to industry shows to represent RIAC and speak with prospective clients, as well as in-home visits
Required to work auction weekends (approximately 6 per year)
Overtime and some weekend work may be required
Must be 21 years or older
Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED
Sales and closing experience a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite is required
Proficiency with computers and current computer software
Knowledge of collectable firearms a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, with occasional bending, kneeling and stooping. Use of hands to reach and feel. Reads and writes, speaks and hears. Works with and around products associated with firearms.
