Ferny Fertility is a rapidly growing, multi-location IVF center across Manhattan. With a team of ~100 employees today, we are entering a phase of significant expansion and plan to scale to 300–500 employees in the coming years.
We are seeking a highly strategic, hands-on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as the operational partner to the CEO and lead the organization's continued scaling. This role is responsible for owning day-to-day operations, building the infrastructure required for growth, and driving performance across all departments while maintaining exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and optimize all operations across multiple Ferny Fertility locations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and full regulatory compliance
Act as the CEO’s right hand, translating high-level vision into scalable systems, processes, and measurable outcomes
Own operational performance across the organization, including KPIs, patient flow, staffing models, and service quality
Drive cross-functional alignment between clinical, administrative, and business teams
Build, structure, and lead department heads, creating accountability and developing high-performing leaders
Design and implement scalable infrastructure to support growth, including new locations, increased patient volume, and expanded services
Analyze financial and operational data to improve margins, inform decision-making, and support long-term strategy (including P&L ownership)
Identify operational bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions to improve efficiency and patient experience
Lead organizational design, hiring strategy, and team development in partnership with executive leadership
Establish and track performance metrics, ensuring progress against strategic initiatives
Serve as escalation point for high-level operational issues, ensuring rapid resolution and continuity of care
Maintain a strong on-site presence across locations and ensure operational excellence at all levels
Qualifications
Master’s degree required (MBA, MHA, or related field strongly preferred)
8–12+ years of operations leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP, or COO level)
Experience in healthcare or multi-site medical practice operations preferred; candidates from other industries with strong operational scaling experience will also be considered
Proven track record of scaling organizations and building operational infrastructure in high-growth environments
Strong financial and analytical acumen, with experience managing budgets and P&L
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams and develop senior leaders
Highly organized, decisive, and execution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities
Willingness to be fully on-site and available as needed, including occasional after-hours or weekend matters
