We’re seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to drive cutting-edge technology innovation and enterprise transformation for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Our Emerging Technology (EM) organization operates at the intersection of innovation, mission integration, and enterprise modernization—ensuring DISA can adapt quickly to emerging threats, leverage cutting‑edge capabilities, and deliver resilient, secure, and scalable services across the DoW Information Network (DOWIN).
Position Overview:
As CTO you will serve as the senior scientific and professional advisor to the Enterprise Integration & Innovation Director (Tier 2 SES). You will drive enterprise-wide adoption of cutting-edge technologies — including Zero Trust, 5G, Quantum-Resistant Cryptography, and next-generation DoW IT standards — to keep DISA ahead of evolving threats and prevent technological obsolescence.
Salary: $151,661 to $228,000 per year
Location: Fort Meade, MD
Major Duties:
- Emerging Technology Research — Conduct independent research and analysis on advanced technologies to identify opportunities for innovation across DISA.
- Strategic Modernization & Roadmapping — Develop technical assessments and recommendations that inform DISA’s long‑term modernization strategies and integrated enterprise roadmaps.
- Enterprise Architecture Evaluation — Assess and advise on technical solutions that support secure, efficient, and reliable information system architectures.
- Cross‑Agency Collaboration — Partner with internal DISA organizations, DoW stakeholders, and external mission partners to evaluate concepts, proposals, technical risks, and advanced technology requirements.
- Technical Reporting & Senior Leader Engagement — Prepare and present comprehensive technical analyses, reports, and briefings on emerging technology trends to senior scientific, technical, and mission stakeholders.

- Proven capability to provide authoritative scientific and technical counsel to senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to guide the adoption of next‑generation capabilities and prevent technological obsolescence.
Degree Requirements:
- This position requires a degree in engineering, or computer science, or a related degree with at least 30 credits in combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science that meets the OPM Individual Occupational Requirements for Professional Engineering Positions (series 0854/0855) or the Computer Science Positions (series 1550). Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
- This is a drug testing designated position
- Incumbent is required to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) and/or other locations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) up to 30 percent of the time.
Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret- SCI.
