Commissioning Specialist (Mechanical or Electrical)

📍 Dallas, TX | Local / Regional Travel

We are working with a well-established, independent commissioning consultancy to appoint a Commissioning Specialist to support a growing project portfolio across the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

This is an opportunity to join a firm focused exclusively on building performance, system optimisation, and commissioning delivery across technically complex environments.

The Company

  • Independent commissioning authority with 20+ years in the market
  • Strong reputation across mission critical, healthcare, aviation, and large-scale commercial projects
  • Project portfolio includes high-value developments ($100M–$1B+) and multi-million square foot facilities
  • High level of repeat business (90%+), reflecting consistent delivery and client trust
  • Owner’s representative model — focused on performance validation, accountability, and quality assurance
  • Known for a data-driven, systems-focused approach to commissioning

The Role

As a Commissioning Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of commissioning services across a range of complex building systems. This role can be aligned to either Mechanical (HVAC, hydronic, central plant) or Electrical (power distribution, emergency systems, controls) backgrounds.

You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle — from design review through to functional testing and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support commissioning activities from design phase through to occupancy
  • Review design documents, submittals, and sequences of operation
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans and functional performance tests
  • Perform on-site system verification and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with contractors, design teams, and owners to ensure system performance
  • Document deficiencies and track resolution through to completion
  • Contribute to commissioning reports and client deliverables

What Stands Out

  • Local / regional travel (primarily within DFW — limited overnight travel)
  • Hands-on involvement with systems — not a purely administrative role
  • Exposure to complex, high-performance buildings and infrastructure
  • Strong mentorship and access to experienced commissioning professionals
  • Opportunity to work across multiple sectors including data centres, healthcare, and aviation
  • Clear progression within a stable and growing specialist consultancy

Requirements

  • Background in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related field
  • Experience in commissioning, building systems, or MEP engineering
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, or both (depending on discipline)
  • Ability to work on-site and coordinate across project teams
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

If you’re interested in working on technically challenging projects with a firm that prioritises system performance and engineering quality, we’d be happy to share more detail.
