Job Summary: The Atlanta Area Council, Scouting America, serves thousands of families in Metro-Atlanta with a nationally recognized leadership program based outdoors. With an operating budget of over $14 million, the Council has a diversified stream of revenue which includes funding from an annual operating campaign, six special events, corporate partnerships, planned giving, and other sources.
The Atlanta Area Council, Scouting America, located directly across from Truist Park, is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Development Director to give leadership, direction, and support of specialized fundraising initiatives and corporate engagement. This position involves building a robust pipeline of prospects and funding opportunities through identifying and recruiting top volunteer leadership to assist with fundraising, prospecting and pursuing new funding opportunities, community engagement, and managing individual and corporate relationships. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, including cultivating individual, corporate, and foundation donors, as well as exploring new avenues for fundraising opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including current and potential donors, community leaders, and corporate partners.
- Collaborate with the executive team and board members to develop strategic fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and events.
- Manage and steward a portfolio of existing donors, ensuring timely donor recognition and engagement.
- Research and identify prospective donors, preparing compelling proposals and presentations to secure financial support.
- Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, managing event logistics and volunteer engagement.
- Prepare regular progress reports and analyze fundraising data to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance our development efforts.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully securing major gifts and developing sustainable donor relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience in creating and executing successful fundraising campaigns and events.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in donor management software and MS Office Suite
Salary: $65-75k commensurate with experience.
