Our early childhood special education teachers support preschool students with disabilities through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences that foster engagement and growth across language, social-emotional, cognitive, and motor domains. Learning is thoughtfully differentiated to meet individual developmental needs and grounded in evidence-based practices. The teacher conducts assessments and observations to determine eligibility, develops and monitors IEPs, and tracks student progress over time. Through partnership with families, educators, related service providers, and paraprofessionals, the teacher builds family-centered, culturally responsive partnerships that support learning at school and at home.

Qualifications/Licensing Requirements

The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and holds or is eligible for a Minnesota State Licensure in ECSE. Additional demonstrated qualifications include: commitment to the equitable education of all students, creative planning and organizational skills, and highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to successfully implement the responsibilities of the position overview listed above.

Preferences

We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area. Prefer candidate with experience working with diverse learners.

Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force, and/or negligible of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
