Role Description
This is a full-time field role for a Field Technician located in Knoxville. The Field Technician will be responsible for collecting samples of wastewater from various locations throughout the state of Tennessee as well as the country.
Essential Functions
Obtain representative samples of wastewater at designated locations (such as manholes on or off-road, sewer cleanouts or treatment plants)
Install, operate and calibrate field sampling equipment
Maintain samples with care and ensure proper transportation to a testing lab
Prepare accurate and thorough notes that reflect sampling procedures, site conditions and other pertinent information
Follow Safety & PPE protocol
Perform other ad hoc office duties as necessary to support company's mission
Maintain good professional working relationships with customers and the public
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate note-taking and reporting
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, assess unusual site conditions, and make quick, informed decisions in the field
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, while also being self-motivated and dependable when working independently
Highly detail-oriented, ensuring precision in sample collection, data logging, labeling, and chain-of-custody documentation to maintain sample integrity
Strong organizational skills, including time management, route planning, and maintaining records and equipment in a clean and ready state
Experience with environmental sampling and monitoring techniques is a plus
Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., OSHA HAZWOPER certification) are a plus
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree is a plus
Other Requirements
Must be willing to travel 50% or more depending on business needs (some travel in-state by vehicle, some travel out-of-state by plane)
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides
Must have a clean or good driving record (no recent major violations or suspensions)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
