Base pay range
This is a rare opportunity to build, shape, and lead the entire people function at a fast-growing, globally recognized beauty brand at a pivotal stage of scale. Reporting directly to the COO, the Director of Human Resources will serve as both a strategic partner and an extremely hands-on operator owning everything from talent strategy to day-to-day HR execution.
This role is ideal for a roll-up-your-sleeves HR leader who thrives in entrepreneurial environments, enjoys building systems from the ground up, and knows how to balance culture, compliance, and growth in a founder-led organization.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to the COO and leadership team on people strategy, organizational design, and workforce planning
- Build scalable HR infrastructure to support rapid growth across corporate, retail, and creative teams
- Translate business goals into actionable people initiatives that drive performance, retention, and culture
Full-Cycle HR Ownership (Hands-On)
- Own all HR functions end-to-end, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, payroll partnership, benefits administration, and HR operations
- Serve as the go-to resource for employees and managers, handling issues with discretion, empathy, and clarity
- Create and continuously refine policies, procedures, and employee handbooks as the company evolves
- Manage exempt vs. non-exempt classifications, overtime compliance, timekeeping practices, and wage-hour audits
- Partner with legal counsel as needed on investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Ensure compliant recordkeeping, postings, training (including annual harassment prevention training), and documentation
Talent & Culture
- Partner closely with leadership on hiring strategy, onboarding, and leadership development
- Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and creative culture that reflects the brand’s values and vision
- Implement feedback, engagement, and performance review processes that actually get used
Growth & Scale
- Build systems that work now but won’t break later
- Identify where automation, vendors, or internal processes can improve efficiency without sacrificing the human touch
- Be comfortable toggling between strategic planning and tactical execution daily
Who You Are
- 8–12+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in high-growth consumer, beauty, fashion, or creative brands
- Proven experience owning HR as a department of one (or very lean team)
- Deep expertise in NYC and NYS labor and employment compliance
- A natural relationship-builder who earns trust across all levels of the organization
- Comfortable in ambiguity, energized by growth, and unafraid to get into the weeds
- Polished, emotionally intelligent, and able to operate with both warmth and backbone

Salary Range: $150,000–$165,000 + discretionary monetary offerings & benefits
