In-House Counsel

Currently hiring for an experienced Senior Counsel, Digital Antipiracy to join an innovative and industry leading entertainment and media GIANT to support their growing team out the company’s beautiful and sunny Burbank, CA location! This position will start as a 6-month contract with the possibility to extend further based on an ongoing need within the department.

This role requires an experienced senior-level attorney whose primary role would be to work with online enforcement initiatives, including in relation to website infringements, social media issues and domain name recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Support the development of the Company's digital media enforcement strategies, confirming necessary rights in selected works, and meaningful participation in matters from initial investigation to conclusion.
• Support online investigations into piracy incidents and users, working with internal and outside investigative services.
• Draft and negotiate vendor agreements and amendments, while advising the Company's operations' team on terms.
• Assist with monitoring/participation in select industry groups addressing piracy.
• Work closely with internal business stakeholders, industry partners, legal and technology vendors, individual subject-matter experts across the Company, and outside counsel.
• Stay abreast of a rapidly changing legal, policy, and technology landscape.
• Exhibit diplomacy, strategic thinking, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to execute efficiently against multiple high-priority and high-volume projects.

Qualifications:

• Minimum five (5) years of practice experience at a law firm or a combination of law firm and in-house work, preferably handling intellectual property litigation/antipiracy matters and licensing.
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience with online enforcement and related distribution agreements.
• Knowledge of international intellectual property frameworks.
• JD or equivalent from an accredited law school.
• Membership in the California State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel.
