This role plays a vital part in protecting patients, staff, and the community by leading and coordinating Infection Control initiatives across the organization. The position partners with clinical teams to design, implement, and continuously improve infection prevention strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. You’ll serve as a trusted resource, providing expert guidance, education, and data-driven insights to reduce risk and promote a culture of safety.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the monitoring and reporting of communicable diseases to local and state health departments, ensuring accurate documentation and timely compliance with public health requirements.
  • Drive meaningful change by applying performance improvement methodologies to infection control processes and outcomes.
  • Design and implement an annual surveillance plan tailored to the populations served, clinical services provided, and trends identified through data analysis.
  • Maintain detailed records related to potentially infectious cases and coordinate required reporting to county, state, and federal agencies in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Deliver engaging formal and informal education to hospital staff, strengthening awareness, compliance, and best practices in infection prevention.

Job Summary

Responsible for the coordination and planning of Infection Control activities. Provides guidance and consultation in the development, planning, and coordination of infection control. Conducts relevant investigations and develop reports pertinent to clinical risk management issues.

Essential Functions

  • Report communicable diseases to local and state health departments and complete public health department forms as needed
  • Utilize performance improvement methodology as a means of enacting change.
  • Develops an annual surveillance plan based on the population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
  • Maintains records of actual potentially infectious patients and reports pertinent information to county, state, and federal agencies as required by law.
  • Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel as necessary or when directed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree Health Sciences required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Infection Prevention and Control [CIC] - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred

Experience

  • Clinical healthcare experience 1-2 years required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Infection Control preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Clearly demonstrable expert-level knowledge in infection control and prevention.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Statistical methods and data analysis and report writing skills.
