Your role as Intern, Minor League Strength & Conditioning:
You will be responsible for assisting with performance enhancement programs for Minor League players under the San Diego Padres Strength & Conditioning protocols. You will assist team warm-ups to prepare athletes for training and competition. You will help with reporting and work alongside on-field staff to help develop athletes’ movement patterns and efficiencies. This seasonal internship is based in Peoria, AZ, and will last for 6 months or less.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
Assisting with holistic performance enhancement programs for the San Diego Padres players at the minor league level under the San Diego Padres Strength & Conditioning system and protocols
Assisting with daily movement preparation program and team stretch/dynamic warm-up to prepare athletes for training sessions and competition
Assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly reports
Working alongside on-field staff to improve players’ movement patterns and efficiencies
Other job duties as necessary
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:
Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, laser printer, telephone, and computer
Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred
Having previous experience working in a Strength & Conditioning program in collegiate or professional sports, or high-level private group training setting, is preferred
You will be required to meet the following:
Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
4-year Bachelor’s Degree, or education equivalent from an accredited college or university, specifically in exercise-science or a similarly related field
In pursuit/process of acquiring CSCS via the NSCA
CPR/AED certification is required
Must have a valid current driver's license with a good driving record (subject to review)
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed
Able to travel as needed
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Pay and additional compensation:
Per the pay transparency law, the base hourly rate for this seasonal position is $15.15. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
