REPORTS TO: Minor League Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

STATUS: Seasonal; Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Peoria, AZ

Your role as Intern, Minor League Strength & Conditioning:

You will be responsible for assisting with performance enhancement programs for Minor League players under the San Diego Padres Strength & Conditioning protocols. You will assist team warm-ups to prepare athletes for training and competition. You will help with reporting and work alongside on-field staff to help develop athletes’ movement patterns and efficiencies. This seasonal internship is based in Peoria, AZ, and will last for 6 months or less.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Assisting with holistic performance enhancement programs for the San Diego Padres players at the minor league level under the San Diego Padres Strength & Conditioning system and protocols
  • Assisting with daily movement preparation program and team stretch/dynamic warm-up to prepare athletes for training sessions and competition
  • Assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Working alongside on-field staff to improve players’ movement patterns and efficiencies
  • Other job duties as necessary


Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, laser printer, telephone, and computer
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
  • Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
  • Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
  • Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred
  • Having previous experience working in a Strength & Conditioning program in collegiate or professional sports, or high-level private group training setting, is preferred


You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • 4-year Bachelor’s Degree, or education equivalent from an accredited college or university, specifically in exercise-science or a similarly related field
  • In pursuit/process of acquiring CSCS via the NSCA
  • CPR/AED certification is required
  • Must have a valid current driver's license with a good driving record (subject to review)
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed
  • Able to travel as needed
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check


Pay and additional compensation:

Per the pay transparency law, the base hourly rate for this seasonal position is $15.15. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
