Supervises facilities maintenance staff to ensure building systems are operational. Directs staff on minor repairs, cleaning, and coordinates contractors on air conditioning, electrical repairs, hydraulics. Oversees the work of subordinate skilled laborers engaged in minor electrical repair, carpentry, plumbing, painting, to ensure that work is done effectively and in a timely and economical manner.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff. Supervisory functions include: makes hiring and termination decisions; prioritizes assignments and directs work; develops and oversees employee work schedules and approves time away from work; provides and/or facilitates employee training and development; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; completes employee performance appraisals; determines or makes recommendations regarding new hire salaries and salary changes; and acts as liaison between employees and management.
Prepares maintenance schedules; works closely with vendors and contractors; develops maintenance procedures and proactive maintenance programs.
Prepares specifications and scope of work for contracted construction projects and follows through the procurement process.
Maintains inventory of parts, materials, and tools.
Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
At least five (5) years of experience in facility maintenance, and/or parks and ground maintenance, or related fields.
Valid Licenses and Certifications

Valid Texas Drivers License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
