Presbyterian Homes & Services - Optage Meals is seeking a Nutrition and Culinary Services Assistant Director to join our team.
The Nutrition and Culinary Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day execution of food production and logistics within a high-volume commissary kitchen environment. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the preparation, assembly, and quality control of all food products. This position is also responsible for supervising frontline teams, ensuring efficient workflows, meeting production timelines, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and supporting overall operational excellence.
REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Nutrition & Culinary Services Assistant Director reports to the Commissary Kitchen Director. The Nutrition & Culinary Services Assistant Director directly supervises Supervisors, Cooks/Chefs, Servers and Lead Servers as designated at the site.
Responsibilities
The Nutrition & Culinary Services Assistant Director has responsibility as a member of the site leadership team to assist in the planning and implementation of strategies and programming that assure high quality customer meals while achieving short and long-term operational goals and objectives for the site.
Conduct daily work group briefings.
Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Document and follow up on all department processes to implement improvements.
Ensure on-time and accurate production.
3+ years supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, and restaurant or catering environment or equivalent experience in the related field preferred.
Leadership expectations:
Vast experience, knowledge and understanding of the process of manufactured food.
Large kitchen experience and ability to lead a team. Problem solving and leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
Current Certified Dietary Manager Credentials or graduate of an accredited course or 3 years supervisory food service experience. Current Food Safety Certification.
Three years experience in a restaurant, health care or senior services setting. Experience in special event planning.
Demonstrated competencies in food service management and operations, quality management, staff development, cooking, and clinical nutrition for the elderly.
Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, coworkers, family members, visitors, and the general public.
Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies.
Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
Pay Range
The estimated starting pay range for this role is $22.12 - $27.65 per hour. This good faith estimate is based upon PHS’s typical starting pay range for this role. Actual pay range depends upon many factors including each individual employee’s qualifications and market conditions and is subject to change.
